Restaurant idea for Disney Studios: Annette's (PLUS A MUST-READ WISH!)

I have thought about an idea for a restaurant for my Disney Studios theme park. So far, all I have planned are The Brown Derby and Hollywood & Vine. There's an additional restaurant with I thought of myself, as a tribute to one of Disney's best-known and beloved stars, who really needs no introduction! :D

Annette's will be designed as a tribute to Annette Funicello and her movies, TV shows and appearances, as well as her musical recordings and her life in general; except for the more unpleasant stuff, like her ongoing battle with Multiple Sclerosis-- read about that at the bottom of my post!

The restaurant will be deisgned like a combination 1950's soda/malt shop (complete with black & white checkered floors) and Planet Hollywood, but focusing on Annette and her career instead of the time period like 50's Prime-Time Café at Disney-MGM, since the 1950's only covered a small part of her career in the entertainment industry! The dining hall will be adorned with various Annette Funicello-related items and memorabilia, and TV sets will be placed at each table/booth much like 50's Prime-Time Café-- but showing segments from Annette's pieces of work such as The Mickey Mouse Club, her Beach Party movies, other movies such as Babes In Toyland, commercials (Skippy Peanut Butter); and even guests shots such as her appearances on shows like American Bandstand, Zorro, Full House, Growing Pains, and various Disney specials which aired over the years!

As for the menu, not sure, but it would be different from 50's Prime-Time Café, which focuses mainly on home cooking. I was thinking sort of what you'd find somewhere like Planet Hollywood or Ruby Tuesday, but also with a large percentage of Italian dishes (obviously!) on the menu. A must would be Italian Cheesecake with ricotta for the dessert menu, which was concocted by Annette's mother, Virginia Funicello, herself! This bit of trivia comes from The Official Mickey Mouse Club Book by Lorraine Santoli

Oddly enough, I recently discovered that Disneyland Paris has a restaurant called Annette's, but theirs is only a 1950's Diner bearing no relation to Annette Funicello and her career, except in name only! Very much unlike the restaurant I planned for my Disney Studios theme park.

Now that we've discussed the restaurant Annette's, let's get to a more serious subject. This is a wish I would like to make for the opening of my proposed Disney theme park resort I designed here on WDWMagic's Imagineer forum, if/when Disney ever actually builds this park. (hopefully!) My wish is that a cure for MS will be found by the theme park resort's opening day, or that at least her MS symptoms will go into remission, so that Annette Funicello would be able to appear at and enjoy my new Disney theme park resort as well as the restaurant I deisgned in her honor! Even if my Disney theme park never gets built, I still would like to have the same occur sometime soon! :)

If anyone has questions, comments, and/or suggestions, please feel free to post; especially since I know there should be! :)

I don't seem to be getting any feedback here, so please try to LMK what you think about my proposal for Annette's, as well as my "must-read" wish for this restaurant and my entire Disney theme park resort proposal in general.

I really look forward to hearing from you! :)

I think that a tribute to Annette (or, the Mickey Mouse Club in general) should be put up- especially while she's still alive! When it comes to Disney, besides Walt, one of the oldest names people think of is hers... So, this tribute would be a cool way to honor her :)

I think you summed it up best! I couldn't have said this better myself! :D

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed my Annette's restauarant proposal! Looks like she has quite a few fans! :)

I now have a new idea for Annette's. Since I dedicated this restaurant to her, some of the restaurant's funds/profits would be used for MS research!

This idea came from a new WDWMagic member who goes under the screename DOOP! Thanks DOOP! for this BRILLIANT and very thoughtful idea, as since no one else had done this here yet, welcome to WDWMagic! :sohappy:

How about including pictures of Annette with Walt Disney? Thought I had heard/read that theres at least one picture of Annette with both Walt and Roy Disney.
Since this is to be accross between a Soda and Malt shop how about having food that was popular back then? What about a drive-in style hamburger joint that was popular back in the late 50's to early 60's where the servers were on roller skates. Have the servers in customes that resembles the Mouseketeer club of that era?
Which could be added to the outside of the restaurante, with booths inside as well with booths set up outside like cars from the 50/60's so that people/guests could dine. Or is that too much like Stewarts Rootbeer stands?

In case you read my first post on this topic, I was not planning this as a hamburger joint or a 1950's drive-in-- just some of the decor inside, since as I wrote earlier, the 1950's only covered a small part of her career. A hamburger joint sounds to fast-food like to me for this. I planned a wider variety of food than that, as mentioned above.

Disneyland Paris has something like you described above called Annette's Diner, which is merely a 1950's diner with no relation at all except in name only.

I like the idea of a soda, malt shop. It would be a great idea for there to be somewhere to get a great milkshake!

KentB3 sorry about the delay m well anyway what I posted was rather vague. Actually the cheesecake idea sounds very scrumtious. :slurp: Never been to the Diner over in Disneyland Paris but have read/heard that place is in name only. Hamburgers just for those who want 'em, not the top item on the menu. Kent to be quite honest I wasn't thinking of hamburgers made from beef but the veggie kind. Just a dessert type/kind of restaurante? Weell the drive-in diner idea could be used for a diferent restaurante. So I take it you don't like the pretend cars outside? :D Also the 60's was only a part of Annette's career. So I take it you didn't like the Mouseketeer style uniforms. :D When I thought of the previous post I was basing it more on Stewarts Rootbeer which sells hotdogs. And no the servers don't roll to your car.
actually hamburger joints until the early 70's (72 or 73) had servers too take your order at the table. I was actaully thinking a restraurante styled along the lines of a hamburgber joint but not have the hamburger/beef be the main item.
