Typhoon Lagoon

I thought construction would not start for another 6 months. But this is great. When was the last time a ride was added to any of the water parks?

I hope the theming is done very well to fit in.

Well ground clearing is underway as I had reported would occur this summer. I consider that part of the process. Major construction will not begin until the park closes for the season because they need to move the access road. I would hope the theming would fit with the rest of the park since they have had 5 years to refine the design. I considerTyphoon Lagoon to be the best themed Disney Park by far.

And it also means a waterslide that you dont need to climb to go down on. Now if they added a Master blaster lift to the top of Blizzard Beach's mountain.

You still climb for the Master Blaster rides...it would be very hard to start this ride going uphill...and downright dangerous for loading. You generally start high on these rides (but won't carry your innertube!) and progressively move through a course that moves gradually lower (even with the uphill sections) before stopping in a pool or river at the end. There'll still be stairs, but nothing as bad as Blizzard Beach lol.

The one at the park by my house starts with a lift hill. I ment that. There is absolutly no climbing on that one.

I hope it is open when my school goes to Grad Nite next year because I don't ever think I'll make it over to Schlitterbahn and I've seen the ride on the Travel Channel, real cool!

how safe is that lift hill? I'm just not sure Disney would go with it. I've never seen one in person, but the video at the designer's site makes it look like a conveyer belt that some less intelligent guests could easily stick their fingers under causing a lawsuit. I just figured that's the reason why the existing rides that use the lifts for the rafts don't allow guests to ride up, too. I could also see some guests standing up in the lift hill causing even more accidents. It just doesn't seem to me something that Disney's lawyers would go for, which is why I'm thinking they will have the usual queue line up ten stories of stairs lol

WOW! That's really cool, and I had no idea about this project. Sounds like a great addition to TL. Wouldn't it be cool if they put dark ride elements into it? Probably impossible, but it would be cool!

I love how Typhoon Lagoon is set back into the landscape and how you have to drive deep into the "forest" to get to the park. It's so much more themed and tranquil back there. It's easier to escape from the real world and really relax. I like it better than the Blizzard Beach entrance how it's right off the street. It's too industrial looking and reminds me of a Wet and Wild off the side of the road. I wish they had set Blizzard Beach back further or tried to cover it up so it didn't look like such an eyesoar.

I think I should sue Disney for having me climb 10 stories of stairs when I have really bad feet. After Disney my feet have a nice extra layer of hard skin for that but there is more, my feet are crooked. And it hurts, and I limp when I walk bare-foot.

The lift hill on a Blaster ride is actually a powerful jet of water pushing you up. No belts to catch the fingers on. :)

Does anyone have a list of water coasters that start with a fairly substantial lift hill *at the beginning* since that seems to be the issue at hand?

Woah! I can't wait. I had absolutley NO idea about this project! It must have been discussed in the month or so I didn't really post here, 'cause I'm on here every day now and I haven't seen anything about it. Sounds great!

I can't quite see where this is going to go. I found a nice high quality map, if anyone knows where it'll go can you download the map and circle the site or something?

I stand corrected...... The Blaster ride that this company makes uses a belt.

The Blasters at Schlitterbahn use water jets.
the LIFTHILL is not water jets, it's a conveyer. The Master Blaster rides use jets of water to propel guests up and down the hills throughout the course of the ride, but a lifthill is used to get the rafts to the top of the structure, where the ride actually begins. That lifthill uses conveyers, the same system Disney uses for many of its tubeslides (I'm thinking they will go with a family raftride here, as a new version of the Master Blaster does support those rafts for increased capacity), including Teamboat Springs. I just don't see Disney trusting guests to ride up those lifthills with the rafts, which they have not allowed on the other slides featuring these lifts. The temptation to stand up is too high for many guests, and when they fall 60 feet and die, Disney will get sued. It's easier just to build a stairs. I understand the predicament others face due to bad feet, and to a lesser degree, all of our feet hurt for probably the 2nd half of a Disney trip and get calloused and our ankles kill, and the 120 or so steps to board a slide hurt, but I just don't see Disney risking the dangers a lifthill would cause. The only way they could prevent these problems would be to have Cast Members every 20 feet along the lifthill, which just doesn't seem all that cost effective to me.

How about an elevator?
reasonable, but I'm not sure it'll happen. Your case is a special one, but most guests who would require an elevator are in a wheelchair or have another condition that would prevent them from experiencing the waterslides (which is they the rest of the slides don't have elevators), allowing Disney to get away w/ slides that aren't accessible. I hope they do something to better serve you, I just don't know what.

I've only been to Typhoon Lagoon once and haven't been to Blizzard Beach at all since I usually travel with my senior citizen parents who don't really go for the water parks. But I will definitely have to make a better effort to get there now. The Master Blaster looks exciting!!
