looks like its true

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co is expected to announce a movie distribution deal on Monday with DreamWorks SKG, the movie company controlled by Steven Spielberg, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The Journal said Disney will distribute around six movies a year for DreamWorks. It will also likely provide some form of financing for DreamWorks, either in the form of a loan or a line of credit of at least $150 million, the paper said.
Under the deal, Disney would collect a distribution fee of at least 8 percent from DreamWorks, the paper said.
DreamWorks has produced movies such as "Saving Private Ryan" and the action hit "Transformers," but has been looking for cash since splitting off from Paramount Pictures last year and taking itself private with the backing of Indian media conglomerate Reliance ADA.
DreamWorks SKG and Universal Pictures severed their film distribution pact on Friday.
Universal, a unit of the NBC Universal media division of General Electric Co, said it broke off "several weeks" of talks on a distribution deal after the smaller DreamWorks "demanded material changes to previously agreed upon terms."

Who is katzenberg? :veryconfu

For someone so into Disney, I am surprised by that question.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Katzenberg

This is the important bit.

When Eisner’s second in command, Frank Wells, died in a helicopter crash in 1994[1], Eisner refused to promote Katzenberg to the vacated position of president. When Katzenberg pushed the issue, Eisner forced him to resign. Katzenberg launched a lawsuit against Disney to recover money he felt he was owed and settled out of court for $280 million.

DisneyWar goes really in depth on the subject, a very good read.

Oh that katzenberg. Dreamworks Animation does not appear to be part of the deal unless I'm missing something.

Doesn't matter. He's a third owner and will have to be on board.
Dreamworks SKG: Spielberg, Katzenberg and Geffen.

Digging deeper?

Dreamworks SKG
Spielburg
Katzenberg
Geffen

Dreamworks split into two companies. There is Dreamworks that is part of this deal and Dreamworks animation which is where JK is. Geffen left awhile ago. Somone posted all this info before. You didn't dig deep enough.

They both still own their portion of the company.

And?

I guess I'm missing the point being made here.

Here is what someone posted here yesterday.......

Geffen left both Dreamworks SKG and Dreamworks Animation in October.
Katzenberg Left Dreamworks SKG when Dreamworks Animation was spun off as a seperate company. Dreamworks Records were sold years as ago as was their Video Game division.

This leaves Dreamworks as a boutique movie studio under the control of Snider and Speilberg. Both Katzenberg and Geffen no longer have an involvement with the company.

Dreamworks Animation is a seperate publicly traded company where Katzenberg is CEO and their distribution is with Paramount/Viacom. Dreamworks Animation even techincally owns the Dreamworks logo and Speilberg may be forced to change the logo.

Sorry if I'm repeating myself on these posts, I just want everyone reading to be crystal clear on what is going on.

He was just commenting on the fact that Katzenberg would be back working for the Mouse.

The information is mostly correct, except that 'having no involvement' doesn't mean they don't have a say in the company in the boardroom. Especially when the company was major deal like this one.
