for those of you going next week, Tropical Storm Faye is predicted to be in the area of Walt Disney World between next Tuesday and Wednesday 8/19-8/20. You can keep track of it here,

But keep in mind that these predictions can dramatically change as the storm gets closer. In 2004, Hurricane Charlie was supposed to hit Tampa Bay, but hours before landfall hit dramatically south and completely missed Tampa all together.

That's awesome! I timed my vacation perfectly. I'm down at WDW, Universal and SeaWorld Aug. 18-23.

This should be fun. On top of that I could do phoner interviews with my TV station at the height of the storm.

They are saying it's going to break up over Cuba. I'm not all too worried, but I did make sure I have everything in order, just in case.

Ugh Tropical Storm Fay

Just my luck. I just checked the weather form my trip next week and noticed that Orlando is in the cone for Tropical Storm Fay around Tuesday or Wednesday. I know the cone is there to show the potential of where it will go. I was just wondering has anyone been at Walt Disney world during a Tropical Storm or Hurricane

I'm not too worried about it. It COULD drastically change but it's probably not very likely. I'm a Floridian and have been through several hurricanes so I'm not taking it lightly and preparations should still be done, just to be sure, but again, not too worried. I do feel for the west coast and the Keys and really south Florida, they're bound to get really bad, nasty weather.

Take some ponchos, extra socks, and extra shoes. Make the rain work for you by going to the rides while everyone else is standing around inside waiting for it to quit. Oh, and ride Test Track early because it closes during the rain.

My husband and I were at PO-Riverside in June 06 when TS Alberto came through with drenching rains. We spent the greater part of the day in the lobby outside the bar reading, playing cards, etc. Since we were in WDW for 10 days, this gave us a great mid-trip break. The next day the sky was crystal clear, no clouds anywhere.

A tropical storm means a windy and rainy day. A category one storm means the same, but the wind will be stronger at times.

I have been through many hurricanes and if it's a cat 1, it will mostly be business as usual for lots of people in town, though the parks have been known to close for storms in the past.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. I was there in 1995 August when Hurricane Erin played a trick and came across Central Florida instead of Southern FL. It was a Cat. 2. So it was kinda nasty. We felt really safe in our hotel (disney inn at the time I think) and didnt even realize it was doing anything unless we'd look outside. LOL:shrug:

Just watch out for the Tornado Warnings that usually surround Hurricane cells and you should be fine, like I said, everyone else pretty much hit this on the head in their posts of what to do.

Have fun, I'll be there shortly after you and while this makes me nervous because theres a tropical depression not far behind it as of yesterday. lol.

Good Luck! And HAVE FUN at WDW!:D

We were on our honeymoon at the GF when Hurricane Charley hit. Other then the parks closing early it wasn't too bad. They had characters and activities going on at the resort until a certain time and then everyone was sent to their rooms for safety.

i dont think youll have much to worry about from the looks of it its going to be more towards the tampa bay area even if it does go thru orlando,by the time it does itll have weakened drastically from the time it spent over land so it would probably just be a large unusually strong thunderstorm
