Funny Ride Breakdowns?

When we visited the parks in May, 2 of the people in our group had never been on Dinosaur before, so we all hop on and towards the end of the ride, it seemed to be going slower than I remembered, and then we get into the light tunnel where they say, "They're not gonna make it, they're not gonna make it!" and the ride stops and all the lights go off, it is silent for about 2 seconds, when my friend who had never been on the ride whispers, "did we not make it?" I laughed hysterically... Anyone else?

lol, that is a good one! I guess I haven't had many breakdowns, but last time I went I was caught in the graveyard of the haunted mansion for a few minutes. It was funny since everyone around me started singing Grim Grinning Ghosts along with the haunts.

DH and I had Test Track stop when you go through the break sequence... then when it started back up... the sound got all screwed up and we saw the truck you could have hit before the sound came... it was pretty funny...

Not so much a funny one but one that drove us round the bend! We got stuck on Splash where the bees are for 20 minutes! After 10 minutes, we were begging them to turn the sound off! After 20 minutes, it was stuck in my head for the rest of the day! Even now, it comes back to me now and then...:lookaroun

I take it that wasn't you're laughing place then? :p

I haven't had that many breakdowns on rides. The only ones have been one time the TTA and a couple on Test Track. But there was the one time on Test Track where the Dad in the front row was having some fun with his son (I think he was about five years old). He was in the "drivers seat", so his Dad was having some fun with him, telling him to speed up, or saying what a crazy driver he was when we were going through the brake test. Anyway, we were just coming out of the environmental chambers and his Dad said "Now make us go faster." Just after he said that, the car e-stopped right in its place. The Dad then turned to the son and said, "Look, you broke it!" The son was in shocked disbelief for a second, then turned to his Dad and said "No I didn't!"

He was a little worried though, because he started banging on the front of the dashboard area to try and make the car go again, all the while his Dad still jokingly telling him he broke it.

hahahaha That's really funny.

On our last trip we went on Carousel of Progress during EMH. We were on the 2nd or 3rd scene and it was over and the song started playing and everything but the carousel only moved about a foot. So we had to sit through the same scene again. So it ended and we actually moved that time.

One time I was sitting in the UOE vehicle and it went about 2 feet and stopped. The cast members told us to climb over and out our seats since the doors weren't working either. :ROFLOL: It was awesome!

Oh yeah. I have another one for you. Xsupaxmanxsfnex's story reminded me of something. My family and I sat down in COP and the speech about COP began. But we didn't move on to the next room. Then the speech started again. And again. And again. We must have heard it at least five times until we were asked to leave. :brick:

A couple of trips ago, we were on the Great Movie Ride. The sound broke down right before we got to the room with the Wizzard of Oz. It was funny because the guide was trying really hard to make up for it, but something about the munchkins all singing with no sounds coming out was a bit creepy. All you could hear was the mechanics of the figures moving.

Little kids were all upset but it was pretty funny.

I've actually had two that still make me laugh each time I go....

- I was on ToT with a friend...it was the first ride we did at MGM while we were there for EMH..so about 8:00 AM. We were just at the part where the car moves forward and you are about to lock into place for the drop when the ride stopped...the lights stayed off and a creepy voice told us to remain seated. I thought they had enhanced the ride until the voice repeated again. Then the lights came on and a cast member stepped out of a door and told us all that the ride was being reset and we needed to wait. After it was back up, they continued the ride, but with all of the emergency lights on, so we did all of the ToT drops with lights in the elevator shaft! Talk about nauseating. After we had dropped about seven times, we got off and they told us we could all walk back on since our experience was interrupted. Everyone in the car walked on to another car, sat down and as the door closed, a guy in the back yelled "what the hell are we all doing?!" We went through the entire thing again (another 7 or 8 drops) and got off. This was all before 8:30 AM. Needless to say, we looked drunk as we wobbled down the street and decided to pass on breakfast!

- My wife and I were at EPCOT last March and got onto SSE. Shortly after the ride began, her lunch began to disagree with her and she was feeling sick. Of course the ride kept stoppping and starting more than it had before and was taking forever. When we were backwards on the "return trip to Earth" it came to a complete halt for 2 or 3 minutes (which felt like an enternity - especially for her!). When we finally got off, she sprinted across to the restrooms and tossed her lunch. Not funny at the time, but when we rode it again this past December, we both laughed for the entire trip! :ROFLOL:

Yeah I had a similar experience at Pirates of the caribbean, we basically got stuck at the end for about an hour where they were signing "yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me" and it was playing over and over again. Jesus that was awful. :brick:

This wasn't at WDW, but at "the other" parks. We were a big group and did a child swap. Everyone else in the group rode Jurassic Park the first time, while I stayed off with the two little ones. Then everyone else waited and our oldest daughter and niece rode JP with me (their second time). The girls were about 5 & 7 at the time. We were in the second to the last row. As we are climbing the hill for the last drop the ride breaks down. We are stuck halfway up the incline with water rushing down on either side of us. After about 7 minutes the girls are squirming in their seats....pretty soon one says "I really gotta go potty" ...a few minutes later the second one joins in saying that she can't hold it much longer. I keep telling the girls, hold on its going to start again soon. The girls are squirming more and more and getting more vocal about their need to use the restroom. There was a father about 40 ish behind us and he leans forward and says "I'll give you $20 if you don't ______ all over me back here!" cause he knew which way the fluid would flow! The girls held out..they made it, he bought them each a little stuffed dino. and our group all got special 'passes' to get us to the front of the line for two other rides. We were stuck for about 15 minutes total..which seemed like forever.

I could probably think of many, but one that stands out is our Universe of Energy evac. The only really funny thing was that the last car was apparently evacuated in the dinosaur scene, while the rest of us moved slowly to the "radio room". CM comes on the speaker, just as the last (and strangely void) car rolls in.

"Well, folks, the dinosaurs apparently don't take too kindly to stragglers..."

We got stuck right in the middle of Big Thunder in the pouring rain! They would not let us get off, but they sent a young CM to come out and get drenched with us and keep us company.

We were laughing.

When I went in Nov 06 with my one friend, we seemed to get stuck on every ride. On SE we got stopped 5 times before we made it through the saftey monitors. Then got stopped 2 times up top and once more on the way down. At first i thought, o they are probably helping people on and off the ride, but it happend too many times for it to be that. Then the next day we went to MK and go stuck 2 times on the HM. To top it off we got stuck in SM for about 15 mins on the incline part. I keep telling her it was her fault becuase i normally don't have those problems. I remember when we were stuck on SM that the one girl who was on the train with us took a nap and had my friend wake her before we started moving. :ROFLOL:

So when she comes with us, i mess with her and won't sit in the car with her. :p

Being stuck for 20 minutes on It's A Small World is no laughing matter:lookaroun...

Try being stuck on GMR for 20 minutes in the Tarzan scene...that was NOT fun at all!

"Tarzan...Tarzan...where are you Tarzan? Oh, Cheetah, look!"

I still contend that of all the places in WDW to be stuck, that is the absolute worst one.

I haven't had any rides breakdown on me but I like to tease people in line. When the ride trains or cars go by with empty seats I always say "Hey what happened to that guy?" pointing to the empty seat!

This was at DLRP and we got stuck on BTMR on the incline with the falling boulders scene, it was annoying as it hurt our necks as we on the incline and listening to the same automated announce meant over and over in all the different languages I think we were stuck for about 20 - 30 mins in total and we didn't get anything when we got off and that annoyed us as we had queued for about 40mins to get on it, at the very least we thought the CMs would have said sorry in person rather than just the automated message when we were stopped. Other than that I have never gotten stuck on a ride (touch wood) apart from that time.
