Hey, Gang... just got my copy of Disney Files (DVC Member Magazine), and there's an exciting tidbit inside...

Disney in Detail: This summer, Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort stores are debuting the first installments of a new book series called "Disney in Detail."

Each lavishly illustrated 24-page book focuses on a specific topic of historic or entertainment value within Disney Parks. The first two titles include "Finding Nemo in the Disney Theme Parks," a fun and fact-filled tour of Nemo-inspired shows and attractions, and "Windows on Main Street, showcasing the stories behind the names on Main Street, USA windowpanes and offering a handy map to windows on both coasts.

Upcoming "Disney in Detail" books will include nostalgic looks at beloved attractions; holidays, parades and anniversaries in the Parks; and technological innovations, such as Audio-Animatronics characters and the Parks' innovative trash-disposal system.

"The list of topics is literally endless," Disney Editions Senior Editor and series creator Jody Revenson told Disney Files Magazine. "I'd like to know about the history or construction of everything in the Parks, but not every attraction warrants a large, coffee-table book. The 'Disney in Detail' series provides the opportunity to tell those small, fascinating stories, but in a big way, with lots of behind-the-scenes images and information."

DVC Members who haven't gotten their mag yet can download the issue from the member website... there's a preview of the cover of the "Windows on Main Street" book in there. The article's at the bottom of page 14.

:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

My inner Disney geek is turning cartwheels right now. My inner financial officer, on the other hand, is at DefCon Five.

PS: Just to clarify... these books will be on sale to everyone; they were just previewed in the DVC Magazine.

This series has alot of potential to be interesting. But Nemo is an odd topic to start with.
Odd, yes... but Pixar-obvious.

And let's see... across all the parks, they'd have to cover...
Nemo seacabs ride at the "new" Living Seas at EPCOT
Turtle Talk on DL and WDW
Nemo-fying the remainder of the Living Seas pavilion at EPCOT
Finding Nemo: The Musical at AK
Nemo Submarine Voyage at DL
Crush Coaster at DLP

Four pages on each, and you'd fill all 24 pages of the book.

Sounds like Around the World with Disney.

Frankly, I'm not excited. The first two books sound uninteresting, but perhaps they'll come up with something better down the road. I just can't see why I would part with my money to know more about the names on Main Street windows or Finding Nemo attractions.

Cool. I love WDW History, I will have to take a close look at them when they come out! I'm sure I will buy them, I'm a sucker for this stuff!

Sounds like a cool series. I would assume by the information given it will only be available at the parks? So not online or at Disney Stores? It will be interesting to see how much they cost, as 24 pages is not a whole lot of material.

I'd go for the Main Street one quicker than the Nemo one, but the completist in me will probably drop cash on the whole set.

There are some interesting possibilities down the road if they go way outside the box... like computer advancements in the parks through the years, 3-D movies in the parks, and especially odd behind-the-scenes things. Heck, I'd be interested in nuts-n-bolts stuff like how all the parks' laundry gets done in one day, a visit to costuming, even a (admitedly probably very heavily staged) "day in the life of a CM," from arriving on property, going through costuming, work shift, break, more work, heading home, etc. It basically allows them to do a bunch of "they oughta do a book on" subjects that they couldn't otherwise justify doing a book on.

This could be a good year - I`ll have a look at the above of course, and the Genesis book in finally due - as is The Art of WDW and also WDW - Now, Then and Forever.

Incidentally, Legends of Imagineering and the Genesis of Disney Theme Parks is now later than Test Track was :D

Oh....No....I predict major $$$ loss in EPCOT Explorer's future.

I'll deal with it.

Sounds like fun!Kinda silly that they are starting with a topic that's only 5 years old...But I can't wait for a EPCOT based book!

I was just sitting here thinking if my original post should have included my usual snark on how the release date would probably be pushed back to Juvember Thrityeleventh, 2018. ;)

Does anyone know what happened to The Imagineering Field Guide to DHS?

This series could be cool, I think. Depends on what other topics they'll have.

I just wish they would finally release the DHS imagineering field guide.
Disneyland is up first in line, then DHS, then probably DCA.

I figured they did Disneyland would be up next due to A> the fact that the west coast hadn't gotten any love, and B> Disney-MGM was at the time waiting for its impending name change and the resultant work on Pixar Place.

DCA might not happen for a while now.

24 pages qualifies as a book these days?

pamphlet more accurately . . . :lookaroun
I figure they'll be about like those little softcover individual-park souvenir books that are now being sold.

PS: if their pricing is any indicator, expect to shell out about $7 each.
