Taking Online Surveys for $

In another thread about Saving $ for Disney I posted about taking Online Surveys and after receiving many PM's I thought I would start a thread with the info that I have found and maybe others will chime in on any they have taken, their results and especially any scams out there.

First let me say that I was very skeptical about these surveys and found one I started with after seeing a link and checking into it thru the Better Business Bureau. Then I slowly checked thru some others. Here is a link I later found that lists sites that are free and which ones are the best according to participants:
http://www.online-paid-surveys.net/

From what I have read you should NEVER have to pay these sites for anything.

UPDATED SURVEY LISTING BELOW AS OF 7-2-2008:

Surveys I have tried:
I started my first Survey Site, www.surveysavvy.com in November and receive a few surveys a month and I typically earn $1 to $4 per 10-15 minute survey. I have received $14.75 from this site and have another $7.25 in the mail. I have not been able to qualify for to many of these surveys.

www.Mysurvey.com - This site sends a few surveys a week and works on a point system. You get 10 points per survey and during that survey you may be selected to continue a longer survey (usually 20 min) that will give you more points (anywhere from 50 - 400 or more). When you get 1000 points you get $10. So far I have received $40 from this company. This is a very organized site that updates almost instantly.

www.globaltestmarket.com - this site is another point system site that you can collect $50 when you have received 1000 points. These points come much slower than other sites. This site took a month or so to get going but has been going well since. I have received $50 from this site with another $50 in the mail.

www.your2cents.com - This site sends out $1 to $5 surveys that last about 15-20 minutes, but you do not know what incentive you will receive until after the survey and most of the time it has been $1 for me. This site has also been extremely slow at getting the rewards to me. So bad in fact that when I receive my last check I will be cancelling this site.

www.surveyspot.com - This site is not a point system site but it has cash rewards and prize rewards. You will get many surveys from this site and most of them will only get you some chances at prize drawings which include a large cash giveaway. I have not seen any prizes from this site yet but, I get many offers for $3 and $5 surveys and have had some $10, $20 and even $40 surveys that I qualified for. When you do some of the basic surveys they turn into nice reward surveys or product trials, you just gotta try them.

www.americanconsumeropinion.com - This site is very different and took a while to get flowing. It does not give you a members page to keep up with your surveys but if you qualify and complete a survey they will mail you an individual check. I typically get surveys from $3 - $12. I recently completed a pair of surveys for $25. This site has been sending me regular surveys lately and I have qualified for many of them.

www.opinionoutpost.com - This site offers points which convert directly to cash and sends surveys on a regular basis. I have earned the fastest cash turnaround from this site unlike any other so far. I would highly recommend this site to all. It is another very organized site with immediate updates to your account.

www.epoll.com - This is another point site which was very hard to accumilate points to get any decent prize so I have cancelled this site. Others have had luck with it but I did not stick with this one.

www.greenfieldonline.com - I have recently joined this site and it sends plenty of surveys, some for cash incentives and others for giveaways. This site will send checks or you can have money sent to your PayPal account. I have qualified for surveys and received money in my account. I will update you later on this site.

www.lightspeedpanel.com - Another point system site that you can exchange for prizes, gift cards and PayPal cash. I have received a good flow of surveys and have already received $20 worth on my PayPal account.

Ther have been a few other sites I have tried that you may read about within this thread that I decided to cancel due to being too slow or too hard to accumilate points/cash. Good luck to all and if you have any questions just PM me. Keep checking the last posts for updates on how much I have earned thru this adventure. I basicly started at the first of 2008 and am trying to save for our Disney Vacation!

Each site also has a referral incentive so if you have friends that you want to invite you will also get points and or cash. Not much but it helps.

On the next post I will describe some of the surveys that I have taken.

Roughly...you're looking at...

$12.00-$18.00/hour for the first one
$1.20 - $10.00/hour for the second one
$3.00-$15.00/hour for the fourth one.

Clearly the first one is your best bet.

All these sites say they enter you into a prize drawing each survey completed and even each time you access their site. I have not won any such prizes yet but it would be nice.

Note: it does take a while to get your checks processed and in the mail. Of the checks I have recieved so far it usually takes 4-6 weeks.

Initial surveys: Each site has initial surveys you can take to create profiles of you so they can send out surveys that fit your age, personality, etc. Yes they do ask some personal info such as household income range, how many kids you have, age, etc. Some of them have an option of "Do not want to disclose".

Survey Types: Now I am going to give a general description of surveys I have taken since many ask you to agree to confidentiality. Here we go....

Many of these surveys are general 10-15 minute surveys asking about Gaming, foods, financial companies, music, movies, politics, TV etc.

STUDY: I did a week long study of what I ate and entered it in thru a daily survey.
FOOD: I was able to receive snack and breakfast bars to try and then later give my opinion.
Razors: I received razors to try and give an opinion on.
Kitty Litter: I am currently testing some litter and when complete will received a cash reward.
Online Focus Group: I just recently did an hour long online conference with a moderator and supposedly other members, kinda of like a focus group. Very interesting - I gave my thoughts on a particular food product. This survey said that it will credit my account with $20.
Video Survey: I have taken a short video survey where I have downloaded a player, that when sent certain surveys they play and then I give my opinion on it thru their questions. I have one that I am supposed to recieve sometime today for watching an hour long TV episode and then do the survey and recieve $20.

I have liked the idea of answering many of these surveys because I am voicing my values and opinions thru them.

The other areas that I am looking to get into are like the Online Focus Group mentioned above that you get online at a certain time with other memebers and a Moderator and do surveys. Certain sites are boasting $20 - $100 per survey. I have actually done the one for $20 and I hope to get the greater amounts as well.

TAX INFO: In the fine print it speaks about the $400 or $600 income mark, that if you make this much thru the particular site then they will send your the proper form for you to show on your taxes and that it is up to you to show this income.

If you have any specific questions just post and I will answer the best I can or if you have had any good or bad experiences please post for others to know and be informed.

Hope this helps,
Keith

Do these survey sites deposit the money into a PayPal account, or is there an option to?
I did not see anything other than checks mailed to the address you put on file. It may be an option, I will have to look back thru the FAQs pages and see.

I agree it is not much but I did just start fully in December. So for two months I have received $32 dollars, $10 on the way, and if these other surveys go thru at SurveySpot I could be requesting about $70 from them in a couple of weeks.

My goal is to just gather up what I can for Disney. As the $ comes in I have put it into an online savings account to save a few more pennies.

I've done most of the survey sites listed, as well as American Consumer Opinon (my personal fav). My biggest issue with these sites is that I almost never qualify for the survey after taking the screener. I actually end up only doing a very, very small percentage of the surveys for which I received email invitations.

I'm not saying it's not worth doing or anything. Just if you get into it, be prepared to take a lot of screeners w/o necessarily qualifying to take the survey for money.

I have tried this American Consumer Opinion and have only gotten screeners as well but never any followups! But you are correct about getting qualified thru screeners, but this will all depend on your demographics, etc.

I started going to the survey sites last night thanks to NEW2WDW and this morning my DD11 qualified for a survey which she took about videogames. I think it paid $5. Hey, that's $5 for her next vacation spend money fund.

Hehe, any money more than you get from your daily job is better than no extra money.

I was just giving a rough estimate in case people were interested.

I'm signing up for American Consumer Opinion. Do you want a referral credit?

If you were referred to this website from a current member, please enter that member's email address in the box below. That email address will be entered into a monthly drawing for $500 in cash prizes for each referral. If no one referred you, please leave this box blank.

I would always welcome any extra credit! :sohappy: But I have only received 3 emails with qualification surveys and have never been contacted again. So aparently I did not make the cut each time. Hope this site works out for you!

Update!

Just an update on surveys....

The www.surveyspot.com site is quickly becoming my favorite survey site. I just completed a Cat Litter survey, which ran about 4 weeks, and after filling out the survey I am to be credited $20. I also received a TV lineup survey yesterday that I did during my lunch and earned $10. I just qualified for another survey which will be about a Movie excerpt that will be sent to me on DVD and after watching I fill out an online survey and get $5 credited to my account. So with all that said, here is what I have learned:

At Surveyspot you get surveys emailed to you just like the other sites, but you can also go to the site and take miscellaneous surveys - either way go ahead and take these surveys that do not say anything about cash reward because many of them actually are screener surveys to see if you want to do a survey such as I mentioned above for cash rewards. Many of these surveys are actually very fun to take. If anyone has any questions just PM me.

Another Update:

I have completed and requested the following over the last week:

-From MySurvey.com I have accumulated 1000 points and requested my $10
-From Your2cents.com I have requested my first check in the amount of $10
- From SurveySpot.com I have requested my first checks in the amounts of $15 and $25. I am still waiting for approximately $70 more in surveys to show up in my account.

I hope others are qualifing for surveys and getting good offers on pay. At this point my top sites are
1) Survey Spot
2) My Survey
3) Your2cents
4) Global Test Market

The best thing going for me currently is getting connected with a PRECAST survey company thru Survey Spot which after completing a general survey a while back asked me if I would be interested in doing surveys about TV shows, etc. and wanted me to download a program onto my computer in order to watch them. After being reluctant I did and since I have gotten some $2, $3, $10 and $20 surveys about TV lineups and new shows coming out soon! They have ranged from 10 minute to 60 minute surveys on my opinion on shows lineups and new shows coming out as I mentioned.

Good luck to all and please offer your comments on your experience with these sites and others so that we can help one another with saving money for Disney!

Thank you so much for this great information. I am working on signing up for some of the sites you have listed right now. I noticed that on that link you listed above that tells about online paid surveys they have E-poll as number ten.
Just wanted to let you all know that I am currently a member of E-poll. There are no cash rewards for taking the surveys, but instead you earn points. Once you earn enough points you can cash them in for rewards. Some of the rewards they offer are gift cards to certain restaurants, movie theatres, stores, etc. I have not yet reached enough points to earn a reward so I cannot comment on receiving the reward yet. But I am almost there. I took a survey yesterday and have not been back to check my points yet to see if I can get anything. I would say I probably receive a survery from them about once a month.

Another site I have been using is www.e-rewards.com. For each survey you complete you earn a dollar amount depending on how well you qualify. The only thing is you do not get actual money. It is similar to e-poll in where you build up a certain amount. Then you spend that amount to receive certain awards they offer. I receive these surveys very frequently and earn the dollars very quickly. The rewards in my opinion are not that great. You can cash in your dollars for percentages off at certain online shopping, you can cash them in for airline miles for certain airlines, there are magazine subscriptions you can get for free, etc. I have about 80 dollars that I can cash in and have not yet because there is not much of interest to me. But then again, someone who uses airline miles frequently may find this to be a benefit. One thing I have used my dollars on which I found to be awesome was I got $15 in Borders Rewards. I have a Borders Rewards card so they put $15 on my account and I did receive this award. The only problem is now that I have redeemed this reward, I cannot redeem the same award for a while (not sure how long). Otherwise I would have redeemed all 80 dollars in Borders Rewards.

Anyways. I feel I am rambling now. If there are questions about either of these please feel free to ask.

Update:

I received a check today from Survey Spot. (I requested $15 from my account balance on 2-28 and received the check 3-10)

I requested a check from Your2Cents back on 2-20 and it still shows "Pending" on my account. So that site looks like it will take a while.

That's all for now. Hope others are having good luck as well!

So far I have not received any survey invitations from Survey Savvy, Your 2 Cents, or Global Test Market. I've taken all the profiles to give them my info. About how often do you hear from them?

I have taken a TON of survey spot surveys, but none of them are for cash, they are all just for entries into the sweepstakes.

My favorite so far is mysurvey.com. I got my mom to sign up and received points for her. I have taken a few surveys for points so far, and received an email with a gift of points. I am still very far from reaching 1000 to get a cash prize, but I am getting there.

This sounds about like my start with these sites. I get just a few from each of those sites and I get more from MySurvey and a lot from Survey Spot. Just keep answering the surveys and you will start getting emails regarding money surveys. I started getting trial surveys testing products, etc. and then I started getting money surveys after that. It took about a month before I received my first survey thru the PreCast surveys that we discussed. Hang in there and they will open up. I guess it might be a way of weeding out people who are not really interested.
