Ride Opinion: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Ok, folks....time to let out your feelings about Big Thunder Mountain Railroad....love it, like it, or dislike it? Personally, I really enjoy each time I get to ride it. My only wish is that it was a tad faster. It always seems as if it's slowed down each time I ride it. Other than that, it's one of WDW's best.

Im pretty sure its slow at times because of the length of the train. The way mommentum (sp) works the front seems slower at times when going down a hill.. But then speeds up at a faster rate then the back cars.. As the front seems to be pushed.

I love this ride... Especially at night!!

I love this ride! It is so much fun and has WONDERFUL theming. I love the possums and goats and stuff. I definantly agree with ya CEO it definantly comes alive at night. I remember the first time I rode it at night I realized the little Wild West town. I had ridden it a couple of times before this and I had never noticed it.

I love Big Thunder! Especially whenever you go through the little town. The best spot to sit is definitely in the back, though, b/c the way it goes down hills.

Big Thunder is a perfect example of how WDI can use theming and set elements to enhance an attraction. By any standad, Big Thunder is a slow, tame, and lame rollercoaster, but because the track is always at "ground" level and is constantly passing by and through huge rock formations, it gives the impression of moving much faster than it actually does. Instead of moving at high speeds through the air on the elevated track of a traditional rollercoaster Big Thunder more closely approximates what people used to driving in cars think of as a high speed, high risk situation. That's why the ride is so exciting. Besides, it's hard to find a cooler sight than Big Thunder at night when the steam rises up from the sulfur pool and wafts over the Tyrannosaur skeleton while the whole scene is lit with otherworldly blue and green light.

This is my favorite Disney roller coaster (if not my favorite anywhere). I really enjoy the theming throughout the ride.

It's really loud (lift hill) and really fun!

Also, great head chopper effects.

Very nice detailed scenery.

I love BTMRR!

I like the part where you look like you're going to enter the broken down mine, but you go right under it!

I dont know why, but its an awesome ride, and could easily be my fav., but something is just missing....i could ride it all day tho..Another thing to make the ride so much better..., get as close to the back as you can. As you go up the second lift, you'll see a goat at the top of the butte'. Keep you eye on it and dont look away. The drop is a curved drop , but still keep your eye on it...it scares the ________ otta ya.

i love the little town also....i wish i could see it while going a little slower....but you can always ride the train to see it........i also love the way the back picks up speed through the curves......i have one complaint though....it would be the way the front goes so slow down the hills....usually you always wanna sit in the front because of the speed and fun..........overall this is a great ride

BTMR, is a wonderful classic, and would recomend it over and over again. It's one of my favorites. Though it slows down on the drops in the front, it's still a great ride.

Simply the "wildest ride in the wilderness!" Last year during E-Ride, we had a group of 10. My bro and neice were in the very last seat. As always we did the "hang on to your hats and glasses..." bit. People waiting in queue gave us a cheer as did the cast members. When we returned to the station, a CM announced "Ladies and Gentlemen, let's give the people sitting at the back of the last car a hand. They road the entire ride facing backwards." The crowd cheered.

BTMR is a great ride. While it's not the fastest of coasters, other elements more than make up for it. Awesome themeing, great head-choppers and it even has some air-time. It's got good pacing and it's a heck of a lot of fun! Truly amazing at night.
