LONG THREAD WARNING
I wanted to start this thread about a VERY special CM. My wife, I and our daughter who is mentally challenged, have been traveling to WDW every year since 2002, and it has been so Great for our daughter. It's the one time throughout the year she can forget about working harder than others around her, and dealing with difficulties in her day to day life.
Every year we always go to the Dinner with Cinderella and friends at the GF at 1900 Park Fare. We always end up with a certain CM playing FairyGodmother. She is an older CM who has worked for WDW for over 25 years. She remembered us each year, and when we went to see her in 2004 after a show at the castle forcourt in MK, she had already left the area. A very great CM Supervisor who is one of the entertainment managers in the MK took our info, and gave us his email and tried to get her back, but unfortunately she had already un costumed. We thanked him for his attempt, and went on our way, the rest of the day, a bit disappointed but we got over it quickly.
About 8 months later as we were planning our next year's pilgrimage to the world, my wife emailed the CM and he remembered us, he told us he had set something up to contact him upon our arrival to the MK.
We got to the MK and the day we were there, we watched the Share A Dream Come True parade, and went to Guest Relations immeditely after. We told the people there why we were there, and gave them his name. we waited about 20 minutes, then were ushered into a private room behind the counter where our favorite magical Fairy Godmother was waiting on us. As usual she remembered us and our daughter. We had taken a photo of our daughter from 2 years previous and make it into an 8x10 and brought a silver sharpie, to have her authgraph it. We also made an extra copy for her to keep, as we thought she might like to have a little memento of how she made one little girl's dreams come true while working at WDW. (I think sometimes guests dont consider the CM's and their fondness of the magic they are able to create etc)
Needless to say my daughter and her Fairy Godmother spent about 45 minutes together talking and laughing etc. Toward the end of the visit, the Fairy Godmother presented our daughter with a special purse with Cinderella on it, filled with pixie dust. and a Disney Princess calender, which she had taken the time to go to all the princesses beforehand and had them authograph and write personal messages from each of them to our daughter. I was overwhelmed. This was so awesome for us, that she took the time to once again create more magic for us and our daughter.
She also was touched that we brought her a gift (the photo) of her and our daughter from two years ago
We are about to go back this year Nov 10-18 2007, and are going to try to arrange another meeting with her , via this same CM supervisor.
I just cant say enough about the many cast members including these two who have made our daughter forget about her limitations for just a time while at WDW. Kudos to them and I will always be appreciative to them for their true spirit of Walt Disney, and what he started!!! As long as there are people of this caliber around then there is hope for our world.
By the way I know we are only supposed to put one cast member per thread but I could not tell this story without putting them both in here.
