Disney Gallery to become a west coast Cinderella Suite

Sources around some Disney websites are confirming that the Disney Gallery, located above Pirates of the Caribbean, is being transformed into a Cinderella Suite for the Year of a Million Dreams.

This news has been out for a couple of days, I just wanted to wait till some more people confirmed it. Even though some people confirmed this, I'm still waiting for Disney to announce it for it to be set in stone.

Many people are outraged at the news. I, on the other hand, could care less. I've never been up there, so it doesn't have a special place in my heart. I know I'm in the minority but I think it would be a cool place to have a room. It's in New Orleans Square, one of my favorite lands, and overlooks TSI. The only thing I don't like about it is the theme.....Cinderella in New Orleans Square?? You've got to be kidding me. Is that the best they could come up with? I would rather have it be themed to.....I'm going to get murdered for saying this but.......Pirates. It makes more sense than Cinderella because it's right above PotC and across from Pirates Lair. WDW already has a Cinderella Suite. Let them keep it and have it be original.

Can anyone else confirm this?

I have heard the gallery is closing and therefore there's no more Fantasmic Dessert buffets. I have not heard it's becoming a Cinderella's suite for YOAMD. Hakuna is right that doesn't make sense. They wouldn't finish building it before the YOAMD was over.:veryconfu

Wasn't the Disney Gallery supposed to be Walt's new apartment apartment before he died? In that sense, it would be interesting, but I'd say as a general Disney theme rather than Cinderella... which makes no sense...
BUT, and I've only been to DL once, but you don't change the Gallery. It's spectacular.

If they wanted to have a similar experience (spend the night inside the park in a special suite), it's probably the best space to do it in. The Cinderalla Suite theme makes absolutely no sense, but if it was just billed as The Disney Family Suite or something (as it was originally intended) that would be way cool.

I'm curious to see if MK will keep giving it away or start selling it for $10K/night. Has anyone heard any rumors?

The YoaMD is going to continue through December 2008 at DL (yay  ), so it's not like they are going to build it and use it for 2/3 ish months. It's going to be used from January- December 2008.

I think so too. I liked the disney gallery but its a bit odd and not many know about it. Yay for another year of YOMD at DLR :D that way I can get my pin lanyard and fastpass:ROFLOL:

I really hope they don't change it. I LOVE the Gallery, and have purchased some of the best books and posters from there! Not to mention the displays and such they always have going on there!

Strange. I thought the Disney Gallery was sort of a whole tribute to Walt thing.

I doubt this is true.

They already made suites for the Year of a Million Dreams celebration in the Disneyland Hotel anyway.

It is true. As of yesterday, demo has begun on the outside of the gallery. It closes on July 31st....I've gotta make a trip out there to see it. I'd hate for it to go and never have seen it.

Yes they were, but now we have the rumors that the YOAMD is cancelled. :brick:

So if the YOAMD is cancelled, I don't think they'll transform the Gallery into a Suite...

YOAMD wasn't cancelled, "Where Dreams Come True" was cancelled.

Seperate things.

I know, I posted that when Al said that the YOAMD was cancelled. It was way too confusing keeping up with all the info that was going around that day, I forgot to edit my post. I should probably change it.

Have you seen this? Why would they begin demo out side the Gallery. Wouldn't also interfere with New Orleans Square below?

I can't see this being true though. They wouldn't complete it until the end of the year, and the contest would be basically over.

Plus, the Disney Gallery is almost an historic staple of Disneyland.

And that's why everyone is so upset. Actually, as this is progressing, I'm now really mad that they are taking it out. It kind of came over me over the past couple of days.

Wow. That's a bit shocking.

I always wanted to visit there. The last time I was at Disneyland, it was March 2005, just shy of the official kick off of the 50th Anniversary Celebration and the Disney Gallery was being redone.

Maybe it is true that they will move the gallery some where.

I don't know what it was exactly like in there, but I guess it does make sense to put an apartment there.

I believe the Disney Gallery was going to be Walt's second apartment in the park, but it was never finished, much like how the Cinderella Castle was going to be an apartment.

A suite doesn't sounds like a bad idea, but Cinderella? this wouldn't work for two reasons.
1. Half the reason the Cinderella Suite in WDW works is because it's in Cinderella Castle. A symbol known for many years but none could ever stay in until now
2. Cinderella in New Orleans? It gives me the image of Cinderella parting a little too hard during Marti Gra :ROFLOL:

Well, it's probably going to be something like the Cinderella Castle Suite (as in a Disney suite located in the park, given away as a prize), but possibly not exactly themed after Cinderella.

Screamscape thinks that the Disney Gallery is big. It has a lot of room for more than just one suite.

They've heard rumors of Club 33 possibly expanding into the Disney Gallery as well.
