Adventureland addition question...?

I ran a search, but came up empty, so please forgive me on not finding exactly where this topic may have been discussed before, but WHERE in Adventureland could a future attraction be added? Especially something large like the long-rumored "Fire Mountain"? Upon soaring over MK with the wonderous Windows Live, I can see no feasible plot that can take on a sizeable attraction. The ONLY educated guess I could muster would be to sqeeze something between Pirates and Splash, jumping the railroad tracks a la' Splash Mountain.....

Any info? Thoughts? Questions....

PS: This is NOT a Fire Mtn. rumor thread, so please, no y board biddies please.....:fork:

I couldn't find the big thread regarding the additional space that can be used in both Adventureland and Fantasyland, so I altered a map to show you what folks have said in the past....

Obviously, it appears as though the ride would have to be mostly a darkride due to its location....

Well you got the right person to reply, thats for sure.

But I will add to martin's post that the treehouse is a nice space of real estate ...

The area on the map that you have circled is the Production Center (Where floats are parked, rehearsals are held, and the decorating department is housed), and the Magic Music Days facility. There is no way either of these areas will be relocated for a ride any time in the near future. The north east corner of the suggested area is where the avac system terminates. In other words, where the trash goes.

Here`s a map based on the Raging Spirits thread; the obvious plot is on the left. Aside from sightline issues across Seven Seas, it also has issues with distance from the existing guest area (though DLC did it with Indy) - it`s 165 yards from the existing backstage gates to the first usable area outside the berm. It`d have to be a good E Ride to have a queue this long. Of course load could be inside the berm, like it`s neighbour, but we`re talking major engineering in a park that hasn`t seen anything like it (or the budget) now for 15 years - this scale of attraction would be easier and cheaper to build at 20K. The one plus point is the berm is already bridged in this area (so at least a few queues could squeeze under the tracks) - unlike PotC when the berm was moved and rebuilt, the railroad re aligned AND new tunnels built.

The second area is to the right (much smaller) - and would need the hub canal system bridging. Like the large area it`s rather overgrown now, but pictures from the MKs early days show the space available better.

I agree, the area south of Splash is appealing, though inhibited for the reasons mentioned above. Plus, the AVAC system has it`s exit and transfer area here. That`d be harder to relocate than warehouses (themselves difficult logistically.) And just a reminder; we`re talking about what empty space there is - nothing has been said at all to be built anywhere here. I feel I need to add that disclaimer every time a new rumour of a MK E Ride is mentioned....

It ain't gonna happen... And cut the forking... :(

Thanks!

Bitter Board Biddie, Bitter Board Biddie! Just kidding Corrus....I love you AND your fork! ;)

Thanks to all who read the post and have brought detailed, precise maps to the table! Without these maps, I just couldn't place new attraction space in my WDW mind's eye.

Thank you again!

You know, I've always wondered why there's an at-grade railroad crossing *and* an underpass back there... Was the underpass original, and the at-grade crossing added later to accommodate larger/taller parade floats?

You got me, I`ve asked about that and had no answers either. I do know the crossing was a 1971 original, but the underpass was added as part of the 1972-3 PotC berm realignmnet. Previous to this, it was actually where the rides flume drop is today. One thought I`ve had is medical emmergencies - if an ambulance needs to get to the Crystal Palace first aid station ASAP, it can`t be waiting at the railroad crossing for the train to pass.

I can answer that question Marni for you. Yes, the underpass is for Medical and Fire Department access. There is another underpass to the backstage parking area behind Main Street on the opposite end at the front of the park for the partly the same reason, you can see it from the monorail between the Contemporary and Main Entrance to MK.

MK needs a new E-Ticket soooooooo bad! Really, it needs 2, 1 to replace the -1 when 20K was exterminated and another just because.

I hope harry potter land at IOA draws guests away from MK, then we'll finally get the MK we could have seen (and was conceptuallized) back when IOA first opened.

The next e-ticket in the MK is...........STITCHES JUNGLE CRUISE!!! (Just Kidding) I hope we get some more little dark rides. They would be welome in Adventureland especially, which is not really very adventurous. Maybe a simulator kids of thing would work, they don't really do that in MK, and it might be something they could develop.

For the Magic Kingdom to be successful, it DOESN'T need another e-ticket ride. MGM needs something new (besides TSM)....AK could always use something else but MK can stay the way it is and not suffer for it....which doesn't mean I wouldn't mind seeing something new added :)

Either of the maps for Adventureland pose a big problem for parades. Caribbean Way is the road that the parade floats take to step off for Spectro and from step down to the parade center for the day parades. Anything that would be build there would have to be positioned just right to prevent the blocking of that road. Basically, a Space Mountain type tunnel that goes under Caribbean Way.
