UK Visit to Hong Kong and Tokyo

I'm hoping to find someone on here who has done this, or at least get some advice.

I'm looking at the logistics of travelling from the UK and doing 4/5 nights in each of Tokyo and Hong Kong (including Disney of course) and then returning back to the UK.

Now I have found flights with Oasis Hong Kong from London which are only £75 one way before tax.

Any suggestions on the cheapest carrier from Hong Kong to Tokyo, and then Tokyo back to the UK?

It doesn't particularly matter which order the two are done in, in fact I think it might be cheaper to do Hong Kong second and return back on a cheapy flight with Oasis, as scheduled flights one way from another country seem to be very expensive.

I don't have any specific dates in mind at the moment as the trip won't be until 2008/2009, but I'm just trying to get a rough idea of cost, to see if will be possible. Therefore any suggestions on time of year to visit would be appreciated too, as aren't there monsoon seasons over there?

Thanks in advance guys!

i am basically doing this trip in April 2007

i am staying 4 nights at Tokyo Disneyland and 3 nights at Hongkong, and i live in the UK.

i'm not really sure about the flights though as i had some frequent flyer miles for virgin atlantic and so opted for them, they also sorted out the flight between tokyo and hongkong for me (i'm flying with Cathy Pacific).

if you have any other questions i'd be happy to help in any way i can.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply, that's cool you're doing pretty much what we have planned to (hopefully) do!

Are those all direct flights then? I've seen the HKG / NRT flight with Cathay Pacific.
And would the flights have been pretty expensive do you know, if you hadn't had the miles?
So are you flying into one and out of the other with a connecting flight between the two?
Are you staying on site at each resort?
Any tips you have so far would be great to know.....

Sorry for all the questions, just I'm in very early stages of planning at the moment so you would be a huge help to me! :D

I am flying from London Heathrow (LHR) direct to Tokyo Narita (NRT) by Virgin atlantic, i stay at the Disney's Miracosta for 4 nights before flying via Cathy Pacific to Hong Kong International (HKG). I then stay at the HongKong Disneyland Hotel for 3 nights before returning to Heathrow direct from Hong Kong.

The flights are all direct with no stop-overs on route.

From what i understand the flights were likely to be between £1000 - £1500 per person.

Notes/Advice
The hotels (Disney) in HongKong can be booked online or over the phone. The Tokyo Disneyland hotels can only be booked over the phone. it took us 2 attempts to reach an English speaking person at the other end.
According to Disney neither Tokyo nor Hongkong Disneyland Resort's accept booking from travel agents, only individuals and therefore the Disney hotel's at least you will have to book direct if thats where you choose to stay.

Tickets: in Tokyo for the first 2 days of your tickets you must choose which park to enter and you cannot park hop. its a strange system i know. this means for example; Day 1 - Disneyland Park, Day 2 - DisneySea, Day 3 - Parkhop, Day 4 - Parkhop. This is what i'm planning on doing.

I have done a lot of research on transfers from the airport to the resorts as i am not planning on having a car at any point.
Tokyo: The easiest way appears to be the Airport Limousine Bus (basically a coach) this at the moment costs 2400 Yen (£12-15) per person. You buy the tickets from a counter located directly opposite the exit to customs at NRT. the busses are about once an hour, but it's worth noting they appear to have a 2-3 hour lunch break when there are no coaches to the Disneyland resort, my flight arrives at about 9AM and the last coach before lunch leaves at 11:10 so i should be ok, but you may want to look at the arrival times of your flights when bookimg them.
HongKong: From my research the best way to get to resort is by Taxi directly from the airport, this should cost between £10-£12.

Below are a few links to site that i found helpful when i was doing my research:
Official sources:
www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/index_e.html
this actually has quite a lot of practical information for an official disney website.
www.hongkongdisneyland.com
Not the best source of information but gives you info on the hotels etc and also you can book the hotels online via this website (well via email anyway)
http://www.narita-airport.jp/en/
Very useful info on NRT. it tells you which terminal you come into, how the airport is laid out, what services / shops etc are there. there is also a link to the airport limousine bus website which is useful for finding times and costs etc.
www.hongkongairport.com
Not as usful as the Tokyo one but is still fairly good.

Useful info and great photos to get you excited for your trip.

Again loads of info and by far the best source on info i've found on HongKong Disneyland. These guys have also been really kind and answered my daft emails questions.

These Trip reports are where i got a lot of my information from. Other people's experiances are invaluable source of information.

a lot of good articles on Tokyo Disneyland.

there are discussion boards for both Tokyo and Hongkong with some good info.

Hope all this helps you, and if you have any more questions just let me know and i'll do my best to help.

one thing i forgot to mention earlier was the flight times.

London to Tokyo is 13 hours
Tokyo to Hongkong is 5-6 hours
Hong Kong to London is 13 hours

not exactly sure how that adds up other than a long time on an aircraft, but it should be worth it.

I opted for April because thats when my parents are out in china on holiday and the plan is for me to do Tokyo on my own and meet up with them in Hongkong.

It made my dad really annoyed because he really wanted to do Tokyo but couldn't, something to do with the tour they are doing... long story.

any way where was i, oh yes weather.

According to the good old BBC:
Tokyo

Hongkong

Thanks, you are good to me,
I'm sure with a little bit of effort I could find these things myself!

I just figure that you've already researched the best times etc, so I am coming to you, oh wise one, for your great knowledge!
