Disney world Texas!!

Actually, you're not going to believe this, but Texas was one of the sites under consideration for the original creation of Project X, which became WALT DISNEY WORLD. Disney was looking at this area because of the vast expanses of cheap buyable land. However, most of it lacked natural vegetation--something Walt was quite enamored of.

There was talk of a few sites for a new park.....they've all been axed. FL and CA will be it....for a long time.

Nope...it was going to be another WDW, but just got axed....I can understand why Virginia acted the way they did.

However, if Disney would have bought the land like they did WDW, Virginia would have had nothing to say.

The reason Virginia booted it was because Disney was going to buy old Civil War land and that it was started the whole uproar. Living in Virginia I would have loved to seen Disney go ahead and buy the land and build.

I live about 70 miles south of the proposed Virginia site (not the Northern Virginia site, there was another close to Lake Gaston on the VA/NC border), I know how you feel. :(

I live just outside of Richmond and either place would have been nice because I would have been halfway in between both of them. What was the reason for not building down there.

I thought, and update me if I'm a little behind, that Disney was looking at Texas to take on Six Flags in their home state. Has that plan been kaibaished?

Texas used to have Fiesta Texas in San Antonio which was really nice and I liked it almost as much as the Magic Kingdom. But then it got taken over by Six Flags and went downhill from there. It's a shame really.

If they were to build another park in the states, I doubt it would be in Texas. It's only 18 hours from Orlando by bus. They'd probably put it further away from their existing parks, like the north east or north central areas. But I doubt there will ever be another US park.
