Jimmy Thick reviews WDW- The Pirates of the Caribbean!

Yes kids, your old friend Jimmy is back, fresh to season this forum back to life with a little peppering of quality entertainment, as only Jimmy can.

To bring a little life to my now famous and eagerly anticipated polls, I decided to give you the reader, and my loyal Jimmy Fans, the chance to try to raise the bar yourself, and make things just a little more interactive.

In the next coming days, I shall write reviews of for the attractions and dining establishments around the greatest place on earth, and I humbly ask you all to partake, if you desire, with reviews of your own.

The first review.

Pirates of the Caribbean!

I never went to any Disney resort until I married my wife, and our honeymoon was at Disney World. I, at first, thought it would be a nice way to spend a week, and just enjoy my wife. The first ride I ever went on, was Pirates.

I have never been the same.

This ride, is a full blown show stopper, the attention to detail, the little story it tells, the feeling of being in the middle of a small town getting ransacked by a group of, "happy" pirates, is what I feel, Disney at its best. Sure there are stories about Walt not liking this attraction due to the celebration of pirate behavior, but who cares, the Imagineers got this right.

The recent improvements featuring the cast from the films made a great ride even better. I hate it when Disney tries to refresh things, SSE for example, but they nailed it on this one.

Is it better than Disneyland? No, DL's Pirates is superior, its just a little longer and a little more involved, but WDW's dosen't miss the boat at all.

If you have never been to WDW, this should be one of your first rides, and if you have never rode it before, I can only express my deepest envy. Chances are, you'll never be the same.

Jimmy Thick's rating- 4 Stars.

I gotta agree with everyhting you said Jimmy! I selected 4 stars as well. Always one of my favorite rides at either WDW or DL. DL's version is much better than WDW's but both are great experiences nonetheless.

The detail throughout the ride is something that always amazes me. No matter how many times I ride, it always seems like I find something new in the background that I haven't seen before.

The addition of Captain Jack and the other PotC characters was great as well.

I do love POTC but I really don't like the addition of Jack Sparrow. I know I'm in the minority but I think it takes away from the original ride.

Pirates is one of my favorite rides in Disney. I really don't mind the addition of Jack Sparrow because they kept all the things we love about the ride. The attention to detail is amazing, I agree with you there! After riding it once, I'm singing "Yo Ho Yo Ho" the rest of the day!

That's exactly why I like the addition as well. The scenes they added his character into are still fantastic. The detail on the Sparrow characters is amazing...looks darn close to the real thing.

One of the best rides at the park for sure. Always been a nostalgic favourite of mine. A typical example of how different Disney parks are to the rest of them. POTC doesn't flip you upside down, it isn't fast, but it is memorable and fascinating.

Didnt read all of it, but going by the little that I did see, is DL's Pirates better than WDW? Hell to the yes!! I cant see how anyone could disagree with that. WDW's pirates is still good, but after coming off of the DL one, you cant help but feel jipped after coming off of the WDW one.

I gave it 3 stars because having grown up going to DL, this one is pretty weak compared to it but still a good ride.

I gave the ride 3 stars, even though I love it, because, living in England, it's much easier for me to go to Dinseyland Paris and the potc ride there is much better!! That would get a full 5 stars from me and for some reason, it's never that busy so they let you go round and round again if you ask nicely!
