Right, but if you read it, Disneyland will be posting the information first.

Special announcement. huh?:lookaroun
- Watch for another special “Captain EO” announcement on Twitter next week. @Disneyland will post the info first. http://bit.ly/aaRbAJ 1:45 PM Feb 19th from CoTweet
I still do not see why everyone wants to see this attraction return. Had Michael Jackson not passed away I do not think this film would be shown. It was bad ,my own opinion, the first time around. If it does return to Epcot it will not affect me because its one less thing I will do.
wouldn't count on it ... and sure hope not ... bringing it back to DL is a MISTAKE and that doesn't need to be done here ... TDO is very capable of making its own mistakes as history has shown.
Also, if Disney wanted to do this doesn't common sense (and I know it isn't as prevalent as pixie dust in these here parts) tell you they would have announced it say last week when they had a large media whorefest to promote WHAT's NEW and WHAT'S NEXT?
As to HKDL, that isn't gonna happen either.
The only place it could go (beyond a temp facility that would cost $$$) would be in place of PhilharMagic, which is enormously possible and not likely.
It would make more 'sense' at DLP because MJ never dropped in popularity over there, but again ... don't expect it.
Once again It's your opinion that it's a mistake to reopen the show.
Why must you try and pass everything you say as fact?
My thoughts are that Eo will do well at Disneyland. Annual Passholders will rush to see it and lines will be long for the short summer run they planned for. And we will know for sure on Tuesday.
As for the announcement ... Tokyo Disneyland would like to see Eo return for a short run as well. I guess time will tell.
Sure, EO will do well. DL is an hour away from the entertainment capital of the world. Many older APers will go to see for nostalgia. And many OC teen APers will likely go because of what they've heard/read about MJ.
NONE of that means bringing it back was a good idea. It's old, tacky and something that wasn't that great when it was new. Bringing it back and sticking it in T-Land isn't smart except as a business decision.
If it boost ridersip then to me that is not a mistake. Honey I Shrunk the Audience is poorly attended at Disneyland. The will increase ridership in a theater that was barley getting filled on any other day. This was also a cheap fix until they are ready for something new. Oh and for the record Captian Eo was great when it premiered. I remember standing in some pretty lengthy lines when it first opened. As with any show over time popularity will die off.
First, a pet peeve (and don't take this the wrong way) ... but you mean viewership as a theater is not a ride
And, of course, EO will get better numbers (at least at first) than HISTA. It was tired when Disney premiered it in Anaheim as new back in 1998.
I don't disagree that it's a cheap fix, just that I expect far more from Disney than that.
I do disagree that EO was ever great (certainly much better than HISTA), but that is simply two different opinions. It was fun and different and fit the era fine. That era has long since past.
Disney isn't (or wasn't) about going backward ... I think that is a fundamental flaw in the way the company is run these days. Let's make retro merchandise ... let's bring back a 1972-era parade ... let's bring back a 3D film from the 1980s.

God forbid they actually do something that pleases the FANS. I'm sick and tired of every single thing done at the parks being aimed at the general guest who cares nothing about the parks and only goes once every 5 or 10 years. You take away things like Alien Encounter and The Timekeeper (using examples that hit close to home) and those guests don't care if they're replacements are average (MILF) or just horrible (SGE). They have no vested interest.
Fans care about that 1972-era parade because it is one of the best things Disney has ever done, IMO. They care about retro merchandise because it reminds them of a time when they were either first introduced to the parks or it reminds them of a time when the parks were better than they are today.
The fundamental flaw in the way the business is being run now is that quality isn't as important as it used to be. In the 1990's if an attraction was being replaced, you expected the replacement to be a better attraction. Nowadays it is a success when a replacement isn't horrible. To paraphrase Cranium Command, they've had some successes to go along with those failures, but it is not the same.
I think the parks fanbase (and to a larger extent myself) are also sick and tired of EVERY SINGLE new addition to the parks being something that is pre-existing character based. At least EO was an ORIGINAL story that was park specific. Even as a child I owned Figment, Big Al, and Fuzzball (from EO) plushes more that those of the Fab 5. There is something special to me about characters that only exist in the parks. And that is something that is sadly becoming a thing of the past.
The bottom line, IMO, people weren't craving for retro merchandise in the 1990's because the attractions being built during that era didn't make you starve for a better time. If that were the case now, maybe I won't look forward to walking into MouseGear and buying every "EPCOT Center" shirt I see as being one of the MAJOR highlights of a yearly WDW trip.
