On our August trip- we did the new balloon ride. It was $14.95 p/p. I really enjoyed being that high above WDW and seeing the recognizable sights. Our "pilot" was terrific and made the experience worthwhile.

Also- if you're looking for a time filler- you could take the boat ride from DTD to POR or POFQ and eat there or just look around. If it was me- I'd even pack our bathing suits and hang by the pool for a while!

We also like hanging around the pin trading at the pin store. There are some great pins to check out!!!

Have a great time!!!!

I can spend ages in the tiny book section of Once Upon A Toy - used to do this at Virgin, but as you can imagine....

Dtd

I like just sitting by the lake and just relaxing, and people watching with a cool drink. From there you can see the kids/parents enjoy the little disco on the stage. We love watching all the dancing on and off beat, it's too funny but so much fun and the beats part beside the drink it's free.

The different stores are nice for browsing. Everything outside is usually very festive.

True. But what else are you going to do after the parks close?

Favorite Thing by far is Cirque... World of Disney is overwhelming, and in DTD's "reimagining", the entire area has become less of a draw. Dear Disney - please make DTD be how it used to be before PI's closure....

If you're there in time for breakfast, the breakfast pita pocket at Wolfgang Puck Express is 8 shades of awesome. I still enjoy DisneyQuest if you've got it as an option on your tickets, though I wouldn't recommend spending extra for it. It's basically all about shopping, eating and people-watching, unless there's something happening on the stage. And if the weather is not accommodating, there's always the Googolplex Cinema.

There are some things I like to do...

  • Shop at Marketplace and West Side. (Hoypoli and Pop Gallery are two of my favorites. ) While there are some stores I do not shop in anymore, most of the other store are to look around and enjoy the activity.
  • Grab a sandwich from Earl's. Heaven between two slices of bread. Especially Hawaillan BBQ. Not to mention that free Ghirardelli chocolate. Nothing says free like one whole square.
  • Now, we never have eaten at any of the DTD restaurants, except the McDonald's. Which is closing, sadly. But it's fun to just walk around the interior of some of the themed restaurants, like Rainforest Cafe or T-Rex.

These days I find I can fulfil my generic tat needs in most park shops so see little value in visiting the location.

Its hardly City Walks is it.

For food Earl of Sandwich is amazing. Disney Quest is fun but also very crowded I often left before doing much of anything. Overall, I've had a great time browsing the shops, but I especially like the Disney Art store. There's one in most of the parks(MK,Epcot) but this one is the best.

We like to do lunch at either Earl of Sandwich or Cookes of Dublin, then do a little shopping in the Marketplace, get a coffee at Ghirardelli and then take a boat ride or two across the lake and maybe to POR and POFQ.

Like most of the other posters, I love hitting up the Earl of Sandwich at least a couple of times while there... I also grab a slush at Goofy's Candy Co, and make my own rice krispie treat... mmm... slush...

We usually hit Downtown Disney the night we arrive also and save a park for our first FULL day there the next day. We usually hit up Disney Quest for a couple of hours and then window shop for the rest of the night before returning to Pop for a good night's sleep! Gets me in a DISNEY mood right away!!!
