if they do exist, I don't know if I'd be brave enough to stay in them.

It can still can be done at places like Motel 6 and the like. Just search for 1 and 2 star hotels on Orbitz and you will see what options you will have.

Do not stay on 192 in a motel6 or something.... they are not good .. at least be CAREFUL!

Are you wanting to stay for 50 before taxes? or after taxes? If you up it to 75 you have a lot better options on 535. Just shop early ... and you can get good deals especially since it is after spring break so hotels will want the buisness...

What you guys think of the Hawthorn Suites. Newly renovated, they charge 57$ a night + tax (breakfast included) with a kitchenette.

I would pay between 50 and 60 before tax without problem.

We decided to arrive a day early (probably late at night), and went to priceline to find something inexpensive in the Downtown Disney area- just to have a place to crash after driving down.

I was able to get Regal Sun Resort (http://www.regalsunresort.com/)
for $35 a night, plus priceline's fees. I think it came out to $46 and change.
I decided to add on a night at the end too (Disney showed no availability that night except for Deluxe)- I bid the same price and level (3 star) and got the same hotel.

Booking through their website they have current deals in the $50-$60 range, plus taxes/fees. For what we are going to use it for- just to sleep after/before traveling- it looks like a nice hotel. I've found bad reviews of when it was the Grosvenor, but apparently its had major renovations and all the recent reviews I've found are positive.

I checked the Regal Sun Resort and in april it cost 66$ plus 15 $ resort fee...
Is it normal to charge that amount inside Disney property?

The hotel seems really nice.
