Nope.

You can look at pics, though.
It's not the same. I went to DCA a few years ago. While not as bad as advertised it was pretty bad and not what you would expect from a Disney Park. Very cheaply done. The only bright spot was Soarin' (obviously) and Grizzly River Run. Everything else was either cheap or stolen from WDW (MuppetVision TOT). Of course much has changed since then.

And a billion dollars worth of expansion are on the way  As for the "stolen" attractions.. is it really considered stealing? Rides are cloned all the time. Hey, EPCOT, MK and DHS stole Soarin, BPB, and soon TLM!

Back to the jungle cruise - do we know if this JC rehab will also include the Gorilla Camp scene?

Hopefully they happen.
Yep.
They should have real ones so that we can through people who don't visit the studios overboard.
:lookaroun

Did Servo hack your account, now?

Eh. I've always thought it was a fun concept.

I understand but what I meant is they just used WDW Concepts because it was cheaper in the Eisner era not for any real creative purpose.

Meh, I dunno. All I know is there's plenty of new, original attractions and shows coming to DCA in the next few years. How is all this relevant to the Jungle Cruise rehab?

Like Jungle Cruise, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom?

you could also say the whole MK concept was cloned from DL.

and for those who are curious about the rumored Piranhas, you can see the effect at 6:55 in this video.

On a vaguely related WDI note, I just heard that Tim Delaney has left.
That kinda sucks....:(

I just heard the news myself and it really is awful news. I'm trying to find out if this was his choice or if he was forced out.

It does seem that Disney wants to rid itself of anyone who worked for the company pre-1990.

Tim was an incredibly talented Imagineer (as well as an all-around nice guy ... he gave me my first 'tour' of DCA months before it opened to the public and was very apologetic when we couldn't get 'cleared' to get into Paradise Pier, his baby).

A lot of fanbois like taking shots at Tim because of PP, but they should realize he had between 60-75% of his original budget for the land slashed and no one, from Paul Pressler to Marty Sklar to Barry Braverman, stood up to have those funds put back.

Beyond that, Tim's work on DLP's Discoveryland was an absolute masterpiece ... and that concept also took the budget ax (his original concept for a Discovery Mountain that would have featured numerous attractions and a lagoon with a Nautilus-themed high-end restaurant all in a giant show building was just incredible).

More recently, Tim had worked on HKDL (including some of the stuff that's coming in the next few years).

It's a real shame, but it appears The Weatherman wants to cut as many folks with ties to the past as possible as he remakes Disney in his image ... and for some of us, Hannah Montanta, foamhead meet and greets and Marvel superheros don't shout DISNEY.

Now THAT is frightening.:dazzle:

Weatherman, though? What do you mean?

It's not the same.

No. Nothing equals actually experiencing something yourself. I did a long response on another thread a few weeks ago trying to 'splain that to old pal Conundrum (who was ripping DCA without ever setting foot in it).

I went to DCA a few years ago. While not as bad as advertised it was pretty bad and not what you would expect from a Disney Park. Very cheaply done. I disagree. I like DCA ... like it a lot. And did back on Day 1 too (and they say I'm a Disney Hater too!:rolleyes::rolleyes:)

Much of the park was cheaply done, no doubt. But there was plenty of quality back then and there's more today (with a whole lot left to come).

Why do I like DCA? Why would I easily place it above say TPFKaTD-MGMS?

Simple. Lots of quality attractions.

Things like Soarin, Screamin (one of Disney's best coasters), ToT, Disney Animation (the definitive attraction on the subject), Aladdin (the best theme park show I have ever seen anywhere), GRR (the best raft ride I have been on and I generally hate them) would all be considered E-Tickets if that still existed today.

Then you have things like TSMM, Monsters (better than any MK dark ride), Tough To Be a Bug (if it's a bigtime attraction in FLA, it is in CA too), MuppetVision (tired, but Muppets are ... Muppets!), one of the best 'kiddie lands' in Bug's Land, Mickey's Fun Wheel (which is fun and gives incredible views), oh and a nice carousel too.

And while the theming in some areas is weak, some of the areas are as good and detailed as most anything with the Disney name on it.

That's leaving out the great Pixar Pals Parade ... and the EP ... as well as the smaller scale entertainers. That's leaving out the nice shops. That's leaving out the pure joy of having a drink at the Cove Bar as the lights flicker on across Paradise Bay ... or dining al fresco on the terrace at Wine Country (as I did a few weeks ago).

DCA may not be a masterpiece of what WDI is capable of, but it is a good quality Disney park that is getting better all the time.

Which includes Tom Fitzgerald.:animwink:

Yes, it does. I'd expect both Tom and Tony Baxter to be gone from the company by the start of fiscal year 2011.

And while I won't be sad to see Tom go, right now he has no impact on any US park. His portfolio is the Paris resort. Right now, that includes the under construction Toy Story Land at DSP and, even though they haven't been announced yet, the Ratatouille E-Ticket for said Studios and Star Tours 2.0 for DLP.

Iger? apparently he was a weatherman many, many decades ago.

Yep. It's more fitting than 'the sheriff' ... more accurate.

And as someone who's known and worked with his fair share of weathermen, I'll label them all (so someone can jump on me) by saying they are almost universally weird, strange or creepy (that's what David Letterman called himself and he started as ... yep, a weatherman). They also seem to be incredibly narcissistic and greatly overestimate their importance.

Besides, I know it really pi$$ses Iger off when anyone refers to his 'start' in the business ... so I think I'm gonna keep it up!:drevil:
