Need Washing Machine Advice

K...I need advice...I have two washing machines that I'm looking into...I like them both for different reasons, and see some cons for both for different reasons but would love some advice from you all on which one you think is better...

Both are energy efficent. And both hold just about the same amount of clothes. Both also tend to have similar reviews on multiple websites. Most people like both, but of course, there are a few who don't like the one they've purchased.

One is from a company called Fisher Paykel and they are a New Zeland company that is new to America. Their washer is a top loader, which is what I originally wanted when I was looking for a washer. Yet, it works just like a front loader, measuring the amount of water. It also spins clothes at 1000 rpm, which makes them dryer to put in the dryer, so less time will be needed in that department. This washer does have less parts to it though, so there's a lesser opportunity that it could break. What turns me off on this one is the plastic lid and the off brand name. It also looks a tad bit cheaper.

The second one is an Amana. This washer is a front loader and looks very slick. It has some features that were nice, like it would warm the water temperature to the exact right degree to clean the clothes right. This one also measures the right amount of water that's needed for the amount of clothes in the washer. It also mixes the soap properly, so the clothes will come out cleaner. The cons for me on this though is that it was a front loader, I'm not sure I'd like bending over all the time to get the laundry out..I'd also heard that some take a different kind of laundry detergent as well and can get a moldy smell.

The are both close to the same price, although I just found one of them for $50 cheaper...but really, I'd rather buy the one that was the best one for the money.

So, I would like your all's opinon. I have included links to a website that has a review of both from an "expert." (Who knows who their experts are... )

I would really like some opinions though, as I'm totally going back and forth on both of them. At one point I'll think the one is better than the other, then I'll go back to thinking that the other one is better. I need an outsider's ideas. Thanks for the help!!

I have a Kenmore front loader, so I can only talk about it.

I bought drawer stands for it so I don't have to bend over to load and unload. If you go this way, I highly reccommend the stands, but then that raises the overall cost. On the plus side you can store laundry materials in them, keeping them neat and out of sight.

Front loaders can develop a mold problem due to the water tight nature of them being front loaders. Easy solution: after you are done washing clothes leave the front door and detergent door open. This allows water to evaporate, eliminating mildew.

The good: lots of options in washing clothes; 2nd rinse, variable temps and speeds, express wash (love it), etc.

The Bad: For some reason my washer snags clothes from time to time creating a hole in the clothes. It typically happens on the cycles with a high spin cycle speed. But it has happened to one of my work shirts that spins on a lower speed. It is quite aggravating and annoying, but it is the only thing I don't like about my washer.

My friend bought a front load and wants to burn it. She hates the soak cycle (or lack thereof) and the way it washes her clothes. If you have clothes you have to soak, I would not go with a front loader. Again, I don't have one myself, but this was the advice given to me.

I know I am late getting in on this, but I had a front loader(taled into it by my friend who owned the store), on the top floor of my house. Thing shook the house so bad, when I callmed my friend that I bought it from, he sent his crew back that installed it and they said if we keep it we should have a contractor make sure our framing is not being damaged by it!
So I went with the one I originally wanted. The Fisher and Paykel. It's great.
