Short update... apparently the haunts will still be haunting, but the lectures will not continue until August.
And I think I'm going to miss the smell of apple pie. It's too bad I won't be able to get some end of Jan-mid Feb...

Thank god Philharmagic is getting some attention. The scenter/mister things are hit and miss alot of the time. Hopefully they clean up and repair those!

I'm getting bummed out about everything.
I thought some great stuff was going to happen to the Magic Kingdom!
Having nothing but AI, the Contemporary DVC, and T-Rex to talk about can get boring!

Understatement of the year right there!

There's always EPCOT...;)

True.

Wait! Maybe the track is for another roller coaster...

Fire Mountain anyone? :lookaroun

I know, I know - let the laughter begin. :)

No no no...it's for Mount Fuji! That's why Japan is under construction right now!

I don't think that'd be possible. We're talking about the removal of tons of steel and other heavy construction work taking place literally feet from where guests would be travelling on the other track. That would be dangerous enough in itself. But they'd have to be doing it all in the dark, unless they decided to run the attraction with the lights on. I don't know of any insurance company that would approve an undertaking like that. :)

Oh, I would never have that kind of construction going over people's heads! What I mean is this: closethe ENTIRe attraction and replace one of he two tracks inside. Test and reopen for a few months WITHOT anythin else going on inside. then close the ENTIRE thing again, replace the OTHER track, test and reopen. In two shorter downtimes both of the tracks are replaced. It's just taking one at a time. Like I said, I would never suggest putting any guests in harm's way like that; the entire building would be ompletely closed, just twice instead of one long period.

You musta missed that huge thread on it then.

I think having Adam(Jedimaster) and several other of our other informants as I call them really hint at the BNL theme constitutes a rumor.;)

I dont think they could replace one side of the track as all the supports are used to help support both tracks.

You have to replace both at once. The supports are the same as previously mentioned. Also, you can get a bigger crew to work both sides at once. Why would anyone think to close it twice? That dosent make any sense!

For the record, though there are 2 tracks they are both interweaved into one and other, making in effect one single structure.

You are correct. Any sane and rational person would think close it, gut it and do it right. If it takes 18 months then so be it. But on the other side of that argument you have park operations. I am sure that they are absolutely spazzing that one of their big E-tickets will be closed for a year in a half. I am sure that in their narrow minds Space Mountain is fine the way it is. I'll venture to guess that this WDI/ Park operations struggle has played out with every major refurb with operations frequently winning (ie SSE)

What is the track length of Space in both WDW and DL? Anyone?

Never mind. I found it

WDW 3186' / 3196'
DL 3450'

Almost 6500' of track is a lot of track to replace.

Why do I have a odd feeling that SM is going to be only one track?:lookaroun:(

You mean one track with launching technology, a launch "countdown" and computer designed layout with no uneven and bumpy tracks and state of the art special effects, coherent theming and a newly designed queue and exit show? That would be terrible
