I am asking this question because me and my gf's family will be going to wdw for 4th of jully week. I know its one of the busiest weeks of the year.

I was wondering if anybody can give me ideas on things to do besides rides. We are definately going back in 2008 (will be a big trip for my gf but she doesnt know it yet :animwink: ) and where there last eyar because my gf's family is a dvc member. So since we will be there next eyar also I dont mind issing some of the rides.

So my question is i need ideas on things to do at the parks that dont require waiting in line?(be creative)

Wow that's a tall order! There are so many things to do without actually riding rides, inside and outside of the parks. Try a search on top of the relies you get here and I'm sure you'll find many more ideas. The first thing that pops into my head, is since your GF's parents are DVC members, you could try the new scavenger hunt at MK for members. I saw some folks doing that while we were there last time and it looked like a lot of fun. I'm thinking we may try it when we go next April. You could also do some of the tours that are offered in the parks. You could make up your own scavenger hunt. You could look for Hidden Mickeys. You could just sit in different areas and 'people watch'. You could take LOTS of photographs and try to get pictures of unusual things or normal things at odd angles. There is so much stuff to do, I'm sure you could come up with something. Heck I saw a website once that was dedicated to pictures of shoes! Someone's hobby is to take pictures of shoes people were wearing to the parks. There's a thread on here in Chit Chat that's nothing but pictures of Mullets that people have taken in the parks. No matter what have a great time! I'm very interested to see some of the other responses you'll get.

There's a lot to do, especially at the resorts. Rent bikes or boats. Parasail. Mini golf. Arcade games. Lounge poolside. Fish. Spa treatments. Campfire singlaongs and outdoor movies at Fort Wilderness...

And since you're staying at GF, you can just hop on the monorail to MK, and take a bus to any other resort.

Not to sound like a shill, but pick up Birnbaum's Official Guide to WDW. You'll get a list of things to do within the resorts in there.

I am mainly asking about inside the parks. People keep saying that during this week that the parks get extremely crowded and that if you leave the parks you might not be able to get back in. So if thats the case and lines are like 90 min long i would like other things to do inside the parks. Plus I live on an island so I dont go to disney to do things that I can do here at home :)

Here are some things that I might do at MK if e-ticket lines were really long.

Tomorrow Land Transit authority (I never seem to find this with a line)
Walk through Mickey and Minnie's houses in toontown
Get my picture taken in the Dumbo outside of the Dumbo Ride
Explore Tom Sawyers Island
Explore the shops and other buildings on Main Street and try to find as many little hidden extras as possible
Climb the Matterhorn (just kidding everyone I know you have to go to DL to climb the Matterhorn  )
Go to the arcade in Frontierland
Get as many pressed pennies as possible

I posted a thread asking what people would do in long lines here
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?p=2294230#post2294230

Maybe you can find some ideas there.

Have fun!

Play checkers on Tom Sayer's Island, and look for paint brushes there.

Try to get pictures with less common characters like Daisy (hard to find outside parade), Friar Tuck, etc.

Stop and watch the shows, espically the performers around Epcot.

Take lots of pool breaks.

Explore the trails around the Tree of Life.

Enjoy walking around the resorts since you can always grab a quick bite to eat at all of them. Also at night if you are both over 21 hit Jellyrolls, dueling paino bar.

* Exposition Hall -walk all the way around to the photo op cut outs and Mickey Cartoons in nice cool air conditioning.

* TTA If there is no line stay on for another go.

* Carousel of Progress another air conditioning break!

*Hall of Presidents see a theme here....air condition greatness!

You also might try checking into some of the backstage tours for availability. Some of the great ones at the MK include the Keys to the Kingdom, Mickey's Magical Milestones, and the Behind the Steam Trains. You'll get a VIP tour though many areas and learn lots of neat information. At Epcot, I highly recommend the Undiscovered Future World tour too.

At Epcot, you could also sign up to ride a Segeway. There's also so many neat areas of each country in World Showcase you can spend a lot of time exploring, as well as enjoying all of the live entertainment being offered.

At MGM, you could do the lunch with an Imagineer. I also always seem to find something new while exploring the "One Man's Dream" exhibit. The cast members there are great to chat with too about everything Disney.

At AK, take the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch. There's so much neat information to learn & see in the Conservation Station, and you can pet animals outside in the affection section. You can also spend a lot of time exploring the Pangani Forest Trail as well as the Maharajah Jungle Trek. You'll see so many neat & exotic animals and birds. Hope you have a great trip!

Let me see, at the parks, you could:
Watch the daily parades at any park.
Meet characters (sometimes requires waiting time), but sometimes you can just happen upon them at any park.
Take a behind the scenes tour as a group (this requires advanced booking).
Take a fireworks cruise (this requires advanced booking).
Watch the fireworks shows inside the park.
Visit the gift shops at any park.
Get ice cream at any park.
At the MK - play at Pooh's Playful Spot:lol:
At the MK - some non-ride attractions are The Enchanted Tiki Room or the Swiss Family Treehouse in Adventureland, Cinderella Castle & Mickey's Philharmagic in Fantasyland, Mickey's house & Minnie's house in Toontown, Carousel of Progress in Tomorrowland, Country Bears Jamboree & Tom Sawyer's Island in Frontierland, The Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square
At MGM - play on the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playground:lol:
At MGM - you may have to wait in line a short period of time, but if you get a schedule for show times, you can plan to see the Indiana Jones Stunt Show, Beauty & the Beast Live, & the Extreme Stunt Show
At MGM - some non-ride attractions are Muppet Vision 3D, Sounds Dangerous, One Man's Dream, Walt Disney's Animation, The Voyage of the Little Mermaid
At the AK - some non-ride attractions are It's Tough To Be a Bug, Festival of the Lion King show, Nemo & Friends show, Maharaja Jungle Trek, Pangani Trail, Pochahantas & Friends show, Flights of Wonder show
At Epcot - tour the WS (some countries have films), visit the exhibits at The Living Seas, visit Innoventions, see the Universe of Energy show, see the Circle of Life film in The Land
Note: You may still have to stand in line even for some of the non-ride attractions.

Here are some things you can do at the resorts:
Ride a sea racer.
Take a carriage ride at one of the resorts.
Do bike riding at one of the resorts.
Do horseback riding at FW resort.
Take a wagon ride at FW resort.
Go shopping at the resort souvenir shops.
Go to the Boardwalk resort shops.
Go to DTD (can take a scenic boat ride from POR or POFQ).
Visit the lobby areas of the different deluxe resorts - they are beautiful!

I'm sure there are many more things that you could do, but this is all I could think of for now!
Hope this helps!
