I just got mine today! I watched it and thought it was pretty good. I was actually thinking while I watched it - why don't they use this to replace Kryssa and her top 7? Only the surfer dude was a little annoying, but obviously there to appeal to the teens and tweens. And DisneyCrazyGirl, I loved the "dinosaurs always die running" line too .

As far as SSE and its arm, I saw the arm once at the beginning of the Epcot segment and then a few times again during the part featuring Illuminations. The other shots were either at odd angles or very old footage (pre-Leave a Legacy - the glass fountain was still there). But in the Special Feature, any time Epcot's icon was drawn, it always had the arm.

But watching the DVD makes me ready to go back, and I just got back from there this past Friday :)

That's the first thing I noticed. I thought what in the world are they using this piece of music for?

I finally got the new 2005 Disney planning DVD! It took 50 minutes to watch it straight through. There were tons of extra features....a trivia game, info about Disneyland, the cruise line, all the resorts, etc. They did a nice job of explaining the new attractions....Soarin and the Lights, Motors, Action Stunt Show. They also explained the Magic Your Way ticket system and the Magical Express service. There were four narrators. When I was at WDW at the end of September those 4 were taping something in front of the castle....at the time wasn't sure what it was...thought it might have been for a new DVD which it was. There is also a vacation planning CD Rom included in the kit....haven't tried that out yet. Just thought I'd let everyone know about it.

:)
Ok, thanks for telling us about the DVD. Does anyone know the best place to get one from ? As you can guess from my username, I am very very new to disney. Never been before and I have got the job of organising the trip in October. If there are any helpful people who can assist me on where to start with all that disney has to offer ????? Help. There is obviously soooo much to do and I know its all down to personal taste what individuals like to do but any advice would be very welcome. Thanks

first timer..............Welcome

You can go to Disney's web site and order one from there. Or you could call the phone number they give. If you want a DVD go to www.dvd-disneyworld.com. That is where I ordered mine from. The other way sometimes you will get a VHS. There are so many smart people on here that are going to be able to answer all your questions. :D

Easter Egg on Planning DVD

I found a hidden Easter Egg on the new Planning DVD. To find it, go to "Scene Selection" and then go to the second page by clicking on "More" and then move your mouse or arrows keys to the empty area below "Downtown Disney" and above "Back" and "Main"

Overall, I liked this new Planning DVD. Felt more like a Travel Channel Special than Planning DVDs of the past. To me, it seems like much more effort was put into this DVD than any other past planning kits.

2005 Planning DVD

We received our DVD this past Tuesday. The whole family was very excited watching it - making us all want to return very soon.

Overall, I thought the DVD was pretty good. I didn't find the hosts, other than Luke, annoying. And I thought the music was fine as well. Perhaps it has to do with growing up as a kid in the 70s - the music doesn't really phase me. I agree that the DVD was very MTVish, but that seems to be what sells these days.

Perhaps I'm biased because of the character's name, but I find it interesting that people are labeling Dave, the recreation and relaxation specialist "the lazy guy." Since when is relaxing or taking it easy being "lazy?" Its funny that people seem to be complaing about the DVD being too MTVish (fast-paced, quick cuts, etc.) AND complaining that the relaxing character is being "lazy." I think Disney did a good job showing that while its easy to approach a visit there as "having to see everything and do everything," you shouldn't forget to relax or throttle things back as well. Many visitors probably don't even use a bench the whole time they are there. Please don't get me wrong, last time my family and I was there, I had the "gotta see it all attitude." Turns our my wife, kids and parents didn't like that approach and tried to re-adjust my expectations the whole trip. Perhaps this is why I didn't find Dave's character lazy but rather just another approach (and probably a more sensible one) to touring WDW.

I was surprised but happy to see parts of the DVD that discussed Soarin and Expedition Everest. Overall, I found the coverage of most things to be pretty good, considering WDW is just too big to discuss on a DVD. Short of making a feature length planning movie... hey, there's an idea. I'd volunteer to be a part of that!

Anyway, we enjoyed the DVD and look forward to our next visit, hopefully sometime in 2006!

Thanks for the tip! I never would have found that. A nice, cute addition to the DVD, and good eyes on your part!

Well. got my (UK) DVD today and feel cheated - this version consists of ONE disc (not 2), no trivia features, no ticket mentions (apart from Length Of Stay Passes and a 3 second instruction on "How to get a Fast Pass), no mention on Lights, Motors / Soarin' etc
Gee, what a rip off

Just got mine the other day too. I thought it was ok.I wish they would have spent more time showing the attractions and not the hosts. As for the hosts, I could only stand the" lazy guy" and the "attractions for little ones girl". Luke made me want to choke him through the tv screen. Too much of an Ashton Kutcher wannabe. Still....for a free cd rom/dvd for free, I can't complain.
