Opinions of Stitch's Great Escape

I was at the MNSSHP on Halloween night (insanely crowded) and had the opportunity to preview SGE. I can see that they used almost everything that was in place from AE, but do not think that it lives up to AE ( and I was not a big AE fan) I was very excited to be able to preview this, but left very unimpressed. Looking to get a feel of how others are feeling about this "kiddie version" of AE.

I think AE fit a little better in tommorowland. I have not seen stitch yet, and I hope this measures up so if it doesn't I will be a little bummed... Cause I am also a huge Stitch fan.

It has numerous gaping plotholes... namely, if it's a prequel to the movie, then why is he called Stitch during it... or why does he speak English during it

For me, it's not about the plot holes, but the actual lack of plot.

It's like one scene from PotC or Haunted Mansion. An event you are witnessing. It works in those rides because it has a context, even if it's not story-driven. It's the ending video clip that gets me the most, to be honest - it gives no sense of journey or completion, which it should have, prequel or not.

This is a story-driven attraction w/o the story. I have heard people complain about Philharmagic not having a story, but it does have a context and a simple plot (Donald steals Mickey's hat, gets lost in Mickey's magical world - the Disney films - and then comes back while Mickey restores order).

Even as far as effects go, Philharmagic is more "thrilling" than Stitch. It not only doesn't make sense, but there isn't even a distraction to it. As everyone has said, the Stitch AA is beyond cool - it looks like 99.5 percent of the budget went there, and the rest ended up going for snacks for the crew. :(

Man, I'm having a flashback to the Mission: Space days where everyone who visits this attraction feels the need to start a NEW thread......at which point, they rehash all the different points that have been made 1026 times throughout the forum.

Though I haven't been lucky enough to ride SGE yet, my friend who rode yesterday with her 3 year old didn't like it at all. The three year old was scared and she told me it was "horrible, very, very horrible" when I talked to her on the phone...I think she was so scared because of it being so dark inside, from what her mom said.

So....is an attraction that makes people shrug and go "coulda been better" an improvement from Disney's standpoint over an attraction that dramatically polarizes people into either LOOOOOVING it or HAAAAATING it? I say yes. What say all of you?

Not when there are still alot of people that are HAAAAATING SGE :animwink:

I would say look at It's A Small World. We all know that is a love it or "absolutely, positively despise it" attraction

If I can be serious for just a second though, Disney's standpoint here is they know they can sell more Stitch merchandise than they could AE merchandise and the Stitch brand name could bring some people into the park. I can see your point, but personally I would much rather take the risk of really loving something. That is just me and what you were saying is taking about Disney's POV, so I can't really say for sure.

Well, a lot of people hated Alien Encounter, too, yet it was your favorite attraction...... Interesting.

I don't think you understood my post there. It was just a joke. That's why I put the :animwink: in there. I was just playing around with the HAAAATING line because I thought it was funny. Don't worry about it

Oh ok. Those smilies can make a big difference. That's the only bad thing about internet talking. You can't sense sarcasm. Oh well, I always have to be on the defensive because there are some people that think that I'm constantly trying to blast SGE. And that's just not the case anymore.

Re-ride-ability? = low.

One of those "Did it. No big whoop".

At least AE was fun to ride w/ others who didn't think Disney had it in them to do something a little edgy and scary.

If nothing else that was one of the best things about AE for me. This is what made this the most re-rideable attraction for myself. I always loved watching others in the chamber and it was always fun to laugh with them when they were walking out after the show was over.

Hopefully some people can still have those experiences in SGE with some kids. For me the smiles and laughs FAR outnumbered the tears in the AE exits and hopefully that tradition will only be raised with SGE.

For those of you that want to see a video of the attraction you can go to:

http://www.utilidors.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1647&mode=&order=0&thold=0

And you can see it for yourself. I must thank Utilidors for featuring these videos.

So after seeing the videos I would like to point out what I liked about SGE. First off yes the cannons are pretty well done. They don't seem too look exactly like the ones in the concept art, but they are much better than what I expected. The other thing I really liked was the score to the attraction. The score pieces at the end of the 1st preshow and ESPECIALLY at the end of the 2nd preshow really brought the mood up and added some excitement and anticipation for the final chamber. Oh yeah and I also liked the "lasers" in the main chamber show that were around Stitch as he was teleported in. They looked really sharp.
