20,000 Demolition Coming April 19, 2004

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
However, we've come to the conclusion that reclaiming the land for unspecified future development is the best use of this location. This is great news for our Cast and our Guests, as this work demonstrates our continued commitment to providing an unparalleled Guest experience.

So we take a themed unused former attraction area and turn it into a landscaped unused former attraction area. Truly an unparalleled guest experience. I wonder what management speak for Mission Space is?

Correct me if I`m wrong, but isn`t the 20k lagoons water level at real sea level? If it were removed, that would leave a large void making it obvious the MK is on the 2nd floor (1st floor UK)? That must be where the budget is going - either to raise the empty lagoon up to the level of Fantasyland, or to drop the new landscaping down in such a way its not apparent its on the `1st floor` (ground floor UK)?

I think they sould put a dark ride based on a Disney villain that rivals the Spiderman ride at IOA. This would be awesome to have and would give MK a popular major E-Ticket ride.:king:

Nope, the lagoon is not at real sea level. In fact, a good chunk of character costuming and parts of the mens'/womens' locker rooms are under the lagoon. As you walk into the MK from MS, you are walking slightly upwards so the lagoon would be well above sea level and the water level of seven seas lagoon.

Good Interesting facts there...

I'm thinking that there gonna put Little Mermaid in, or Villian ride..Most likely though it's going to be Ariel though...

A Villains ride like Spiderman at IOA is a great idea. I'm all for destroying Toontown Fair and making the Villain's land. My family and I didn't go there during our last trip. Glad to hear that the mosquito breeding pool is FINALLY being destroyed!

They could have villians land where the heros and heroines are held captive and you can visit them in jail to get their autographs and pictures.

I don't like the idea for a villains land. Personally, I think all of the lands at the Magic Kingdom should focus on happiness, not gothicness that a villains land would create. The only thing that I think the villains should get at the MK is a villain themed shop. It could be themed to a dungeon or something. Besides, we already have Fantasmic at MGM where we see all the villains in all their glory. I think they should tear down Toon Town fair and rebuild and expand it into the lagoon so its like Anaheim's version. Anaheim's is AWESOME! There's details and gags everywhere! Maybe they could make a Roger Rabbit's car-toon spin with Spiderman technology. If there's room, maybe they could add a new dark ride to Fantaseyland. Perhaps a Mary Poppins ride? Pinoccio? Alice in Wonderland? Think of the possibilities!:sohappy:

Glad they're finally doing something. Just anything but a coaster, we could use a good new dark ride IMHO.

Amen....I hope you are correct.

I sure hope they plant some flowers there! I need something to look at while waiting in line at the new meet and greet...lol

The lagoon is wasted real estate - get it out of there!

There is no way to "fix" 20,000 to make it faster or more effecient, without spedning as much as it will cost to building something else in its place.

I think they should use that as part of Toon Town and put a Dark Ride themed to MICKEY!!! All he has in the whole dang park is his dumb house and the tent! They should do a Pooh-type dark ride with scenes from Mickey's movies/shows, like Steambost Willie, Through the Looking Glass, etc......

How's that sound?

Wouldn't it be cool if they made something underwater and then had a coaster/story ride that kept going through underwater tubes?

Being a Harry Potter fan I would like to see a ride based on the books/movies, but not in the Magic Kingdom. It sould be in MGM.

From MKT update, looks like that they might have a few ideas for that space. Im sure they will pick the best one. I'll let them take their time.

Finally!

They most likely realize the potential of the area and would rather just start tearing down 20K lagoon at that point it would be easier to build something in the future there. I doubt another meet and greet would go well......

I am hoping for a nice darkride that expands on the old ones......This dark ride could be with a Disney icon or maybe just a generic cast like POTC....
