2011 Shareholder Meeting Update #25 - Q&A: Song of the South

Q: Is it yet time for Song of the South?
A: Iger: Wouldn't be right to use company resources to make it available. Don't expect to see it again at least for a while.

That bites! Its a shame Song of the South isnt a more appreciated movie.

To be honest, I can understand why. Like a lot of people, I have seen the bootlegs, and it does come off as very minstral-ish.

Ultimately, the company's best bet, IMHO, would have been to release it as a Walt Disney Treasure, with a Making-Of documentary which would include an analysis of the controversy behind it. Just a decent restoration, as well as ther rarity of the movie, would make such a tinned set fly off the shelves, very much in the same way that The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh/Dr. Syn Alias The Scarecrow vanished like Nightcrawler of the X-Men. (I had a friend in a nearby college town who desperately wanted a copy; I managed to get a hold of one for him when the Disney Movie Club managed to find a few remaining tins.)
