Disney Entertainment Productions is seeking energetic Parade Performers for Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee!, a colorful, vibrant riverboat extravaganza featuring songs and music from the jazz-filled world of Walt Disney Pictures’ newest animated release The Princess and the Frog.
Rehearsals begin early October; show opens November 6

From Miceage- Al Lutz

The entertainment plan is to debut a 20 minute Mardi Gras style mini-parade and musical show called Tiana's Showboat Jubilee that will perform four or five times per day this November and December. The Showboat Jubilee will start as a procession of two dozen jazzy musicians, dancers and performers in the back alleys of New Orleans Square, marching and celebrating and encouraging people to parade along with them down to the riverfront. When the growing procession finally heads out of New Orleans Square and down towards the water, the Mark Twain will depart from its dock and steam towards the bend in the river in front of New Orleans Square.

On board the Mark Twain for each show will be 50 specially selected park visitors, no doubt picked by the roving scouts because they were wearing one of those "Celebrate" buttons that are de rigueur for any Disneyland visitor nowadays. Along with the hand selected tourist families hanging along the riverboat's railings pounding tambourines and waving flags will be Tiana herself, plus her prince and Louis the singing alligator and comic relief in the movie. The rowdy procession and the Mark Twain will both stop alongside each other at the river's edge, and a 7 minute musical show takes place that is predictably heavy on audience participation and dancing.

I assume the WDW version of this will be scaled back some? We don't even have a New Orleans Square.

It will be fascinating to see how WDW handles this Showboat Jubilee. Tiana lives in jazz-age 1920's New Orleans, the exact time and place of Disneyland's New Orleans Square.

I'm not sure how jazzy 1920's New Orleans themes to 1770's Colonial America (Liberty Square) or 1870's Western Frontier (Frontierland). Maybe Ben Franklin and Daniel Boone will play saxaphones for Tiana in WDW's Jubilee?

I think with the Riverboat involved, it will be a simple integration. Here's some news I received today. Apparently it runs from October 26th-January 3rd. I wish it were running a bit longer so more of us could see it! This says Magic Kingdom also...

So I take it spectators will stop and watch along the Rivers of America perhaps? How cool would it be to be able to board the boat for the spectacular???!!

Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen were both out for the CHOC Walk yesterday/

Wow. She's a very pretty girl!

I love the jazzy princess look she has in those pics, with the Mark Twain Riverboat there and the live jazz band playing. Disneyland Entertainment Dept. always does such a great job with this stuff!

She is going to fit PERFECTLY in New Orleans Square later this fall!

Not so sure about her prince though. He looks like he came from a different movie, and not just because he isn't black. His outfit and overall look just seem to not match Tiana or the Jazz Age of New Orleans.

A Celebration to Leave You
Hopping with Joy

Nowhere in the world throws a better party than New Orleans, they say – unless, of course, it's the Disney Parks. Now the Big Easy and the Happiest Place on Earth are going to meet for a good time like no other, as Disneyland Park and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom both play host to Tiana's Showboat Jubilee!, a celebration of Walt Disney Pictures' upcoming film "The Princess and the Frog" overflowing with New Orleans jazz and pizzazz. The show debuts at the Magic Kingdom Park this week, and at Disneyland Park on November 6. At both venues, some lucky Guests will find themselves literally pulled into the party – and everyone in earshot is almost guaranteed to have a good time.

To find out what makes Tiana's Showboat Jubilee! such a showstopper, we talked to Marilyn Magness, creative director at Disneyland Resort, who worked with teams on both coasts to make the event come to life. She explains, "It's an all-singing, all-dancing musical spectacular on the riverboats at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom and at Disneyland. The Mark Twain is turned into this wonderful celebration of the spirit and the music and the magic and the character of 'The Princess and the Frog.' And down in Florida, in the Magic Kingdom, the Liberty Belle has the same transformation." ...

Marilyn Magness is also part of Pixar Play Parade.

Al Lutz has a Tiana note early this morning on Miceage.com;

"Editor's Note 11/5: The final night of dress rehearsals for Tiana's Showboat Jubilee has just wrapped up at Disneyland. The assembled executives widely agreed that the jazzy New Orleans Square version has a definite edge over the Florida version they were later asked to shoehorn in to colonial Liberty Square. Tiana's Showboat Jubliee debuts at Disneyland on Friday at 11:15 AM, with Bob Iger, John Lasseter, and Anika Noni Rose all planned to be in attendance in New Orleans Square that day."

Lasseter is always at Disneyland, but how neat that he'll be there with Bob Iger and Anika Noni Rose on Friday to see this new show kick off!
