Space Mountain - New cars

As far as the cars/trains go here is what I can infer:

  • If SM gets new track, 90+% chance of brand new trains. Cost of trains would be relatively small compared to new track and most likely a requirement.
  • Same old SM track but with on board audio would possibly mean new trains. At the very least the seats would be replaced with something similar to the Matterhorn prototype.
  • Same old SM track without on board audio would most likely mean no changes in the trains besides new wheel bogeys due to explanation below.
So with the information I have (which is quite old and as others have said, things have changed seemingly everyday) the track would not be completely replaced with new track. The idea was to replace the track in "problem areas" throughout the ride path and replace the upright track braces completely with a style similar to S&S Arrow/Vekoma. This would require a change in the wheel bogeys as mentioned above.

As far as the station queue configuration goes, see the attached image. This is my interpretation of what was described to me. Obviously the fastpass merge point is a little confusing in my interpretation and I'm not 100% certain that this is the exact configuration, but it is very close. The main thing is that the switchbacks will no longer go empty inside the building eliminating the line extending into Tomorrowland. As everyone figured, station gates will be added, but apparently they will look very cool and reflect the overall retheming of the station area. Look at other SMs for inspiration in this regards, particularly California. Oh yeah... expect something to keep the standby people in line occupied entertained in the switchbacks.

What's the passholder giveaway? It seems to be something that you have to register for in person, but I haven't found any details and haven't been to MK to see what it is.

New cars would be nice, but I'm not really expecting them. If it happens, great! If not, at least I won't be disappointed. I am liking that info about the loading area. Sounds good! Hoepfully it happens. :)

Ummm...I don't really know. I think it was metal at ONE time...but now it's kind of green...and spongy. Like a....like a Fungus of some kind...I THINK it's collectible. I mean, I know a biologist would think it's collectible.

Oh, and the "Lucky" winner gets a free pair of Hazmat gloves, for...well...Just cause'.

The seats themselves are the most comfortable seats of any ride on property! And they're a heck of alot better then when you used to have to sit 2 people to a seat.

They could use alittle more leg room in those cars tho...
Tell me about it, I'm 6'6" and 245. If I'm not cramped in the thing, I feel like I'm going to be decapitated.

hopefully they will put music in the ride like DL space mountain....:hammer:

DL's SM music sux (imo), id rather hear the rickety cars roll over the rusty track, at least that sound instills fear in me!

the other music just irritates me same with California screaming, omg the 1st time i road it it was with the chilli peppers (the vocal defination of california), but then I road it 6 months or so later, and they had some bo bo carnival music that just made the ride seam slow and boring. I didn't even wanna ride it ne more i was so depressed:cry:. I mean RnRC has aerosmith, they paid for it they own it they use it, they paid the peppers so why not keep it perfect? Even space mountains was better (although not much)

Why didn't they leave it with the peppers WHY!???

Seriously?:hammer:
The Peppers experiment was a one time thing, and failed miserably. Guests complained endlessly. It will never come back.
Anyhoo...the SM music at DL is perfect for the ride, and I dearly hope it, or something similar, will make it to MK.
Screamin' is set in a carnival on Paradise Pier...hence the carnival music. It fits the ride's theme, just like Aerosmith fits the RnRC theme.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion and everything, but you are clearly insane. :)

The music on Space Mountain in California is absolutely amazing. Its not scary, and it isn't supposed to be scary, its exhilirating. Now if you aren't talking about the Michael Giacchino music, but rather the surf inspired music they had in '95, then I would agree with you. But even that's better than the Chili Peppers. I hope they don't copy it at Walt Disney World, but something in that vein would be a good idea.

I haven't ridden California Screamin' yet, but the Chili Peppers did not fit either ride, especially Space Mountain. I don't know who's idea that was, but it was one of the worst ideas I've ever seen (or heard). And I even like the Chili Peppers!

So far I think you're the only person in America who liked the Chili Peppers stuff on the ride. No one was happy on that. The Disney guests hated it, and the Pepper's fans had a riot and accused them of selling out.

Bad deal on both accounts.

They shoulda gone with No Doubt. They had already agreed to do a RnRC out there....of course that never happened.

If it was going to be the same length as ours, I'd be happy about that if I was a Disneylander.

I know this is off topic, but RnRC is the single most overrated E-ticket on any Disney property IMO.

Nope...at the moment, MK's Space Mountain holds that distinction.

Me? I like RnRC. I ride it a lot, but then I'm a coaster kinda guy.

 We all know how you feel about Space, Lee. Hopefully your view will change after the refurb.

I'm a coaster guy, and that's kinda why I'm not a huge fan. The ride lasts a whole minute and a half. And the launch just doesn't do it for me after being launched twice the speed of RNRC on Kingda Ka.
