December trip

HI!

I need a little help with my upcoming December trip! I was planning on going Thurs Dec4-Tues Dec 9, but it seems the rest of the world will be there too! I went to book a hotel and the only thing I could get was the Yachet Club water view. Needless to say the price is up there and my husband doesn't want to spend that much just for the hotel. I went online to look at other rooms and the only thing open is the Ft. Wilderness cabins. I also called to make some advanced dining and that was almost impossible. I know that that weekend is the parade taping, but is it really that busy? We were thinking of going the following weekend which would be Thurs Dec 11- Tues Dec 16. I don't know what to do. I have never been at this time of year and was not expecting to have such a hard time. Any advice would be great!
Thanks
Manda:)

I had heard about them. I figured that is why the Value and Moderate hotels would be booked. People kept telling me that they are not really at the parks because they are there for the football games. Though I am sure they have some down time. I was just very surprised how booked everything was. I had an easier time booking Wilderness Lodge in July on 2 weeks notice. I am sure the parade taping doesn't help either. Even the all those production people have to sleep and eat some where. Maybe the 2nd weekend would be better.

I will be there that first week...and once you get there, it won't be much more crowded than usual...but....
I would suggest getting in touch with KingdomKonsultants, great friends of this site. While they can't make rooms appear like magic, they can keep trying for you, and explore various options (at no charge to you!). If you have some flexability with your dates, sometimes arriving a day earlier or later can open things up. They can also help you with your ADR's.

Good luck!

I was having the same problem. Ww wanted to book December 6-10 and everything is booked. I thought this was supposed to be a "low season." I wonder how much of a low time this is anymore.

We went this past Jan. 1-7 and it was PACKED. Bigger crowds than I had ever seen in summer.

Just noticed something really intresting. If you go to southwestvacations.com you can book a room only resservation. Maybe they keep some rooms held back for booking agents??

I believe the "land" part of MouseFest begins on 12/11. And we were waitlisted - successfully - at our home resort for 12/1-4 last year. The parks did not seem that crowded to me - MGM was the exception - but the resorts were PACKED. Early December used to be THE best time to visit WDW, but no more and it is very important to book early. The weather is really nice, the parks look fabulous and the Osborne Lights are a definite must-see. And it has become extremely popular. Have you tried the Swan or Dolphin? Mousesavers lists any specials that may be available. Or how about one of the hotels near DTD?

Aaa?

Hi - right after I read your post I went to www.aaanne.com and typed in the dates and modified the search to "disney" and found almost every resort available!!! Riverside is full, but All Stars is open, as a matter of fact there are rooms starting around $65!!! So, either call Disney directly to see again what may be out there, or call AAA - even if you have to join the Club for a year, it is well worth the discount and cheaper room!!!
Also - as far as your Meal reservations - one thing we learned is be very, very flexible as far as times are concerned. Book what you can live with, them later on call again and see if something is available closer to the time you really want!
Have fun!!!

Thanks!

Thanks for all the advice! I talked to a friend of mine who works for Disney and he may be able to book us at the Contemporary. I think we may take him up on his offer. I would love to stay at the Beach Club but even he can't get a reservation! Now I hope I can get Christmas party tickets:) Thanks again:)

I used a pin code for my trip down in Dec. 11-15th and they still consider that value season (off peak season)-(that's why I can use my pin code-pin codes are for increasing visits during slower seasons is what the Disney Rep. hinted to me) and from the info I'm getting on the boards, it's still relatively slow until the week before christmas. I think it's mostly popwarner and the block out of rooms for discounts that's making it appear busy. I think highest crowds are people that go for Christmas day and stay for Jan. 1st (spend both holidays). I still think it's a great time to go and I envy you maybe getting into Contemporary!! See you at the parks:wave:

Part of your problem might with the days of the week you want to go - you're kind of splitting up two separate weeks. Try checking availablity say from a Monday to Friday or Saturday. You'll also save money going through the week and opposed to weekend nightly rates being so much more than weekdays.
