A Magical Express Luggage Tag Question

Ok I have all ready used the Magical Express twice. Today I picked up my packet for Disney from my travel agent and she told me we will have to get our luggage off the carousel ourselves with USair. Has anyone heard of this ? We have not used USair before and I am aware of the certain airlines that participate with the resort check-in on your last day but I thought all airlines were included when you arrive to take your bags over, anyone with help on this wold be appreciated.

You definately DO NOT have to get your luggage even if you are with US Air. My brother and I just used them last month.

You are correct, arriving at WDW all airlines Magic Express luggage (correctly tagged) will be picked up and delivered to your room.

Hopefully the rumors are true and soon US Air customers will be able to use the resort check in as well.

We used USAir out of Pittsburgh last year, and used DME tags and our bags were delivered to our room - we did NOT have to pick up our luggage ourselves. And, I think there was a thread a couple weeks ago saying that USAir was now a participating airline for return trip check-in at the resorts.

She is wrong, and you might want to let her know that. She is confusing DME (which anyone flying into MCO and staying at a WDW resort can use) with Resort Airline Check-In Service, which is limited to certain airlines (AirTran (as of May 2007), Alaska Airlines, American, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, Northwest, and United (including TED).

Just wanted to point out that USAirways is now a participating airline in the Resort Airline Check-In service as of just last week. The only major carrier operating out of MCO that doesn't participate is Southwest, and they're hoping to add them sometime next year.

Thanks for that correction - I wasn't sure when the official date for USAir was.

Thank you for all of your input. I went into a brief panic when she said that even tho I thought I was right and she was wrong. I also hope USAIR is on the Resort checkin because I really liked that when we flew Delta. Thanks again everyone.

Does anyone know if DME will collect my bags from Sun Country? Thanks!

We always fly sun country too. They will deliver your bags to your room when you arrive just as they will from any airline. It's just when you go to leave that you have to take your luggage on the ME bus with you instead of checking it at the hotel.

Thank you! This is wonderful news! I can handle the departure part, but had been very curious about the arrival. Thanks again.

US Airways is in a testing phase -- only 3 resorts!!!

Just wanted to point out that USAirways is now a participating airline in the Resort Airline Check-In service as of just last week.
Yes, but they are in a testing phase right now. For the forseeable future, US Airways passengers can ONLY use the Resort Airline Check-in service if they are guests at Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Ack! Thanks for the clarification. That's one detail that I haven't seen listed in any of the articles about USAirways joining the program...

When going into MCO all luggage will be picked up, going out however is different. But one word of caution, if you are arriving late evening do not put the tags on, get them yourself at the airport. If you do not you either have to wait till early morning before you get them, ie. 3 or 4 am, or ask that they deliver them in the morning after you've woken up.
Oh, by the way, post 1300
