Mummy/ Jurassic Park Updates!?

I received an e-mail this morning (UK resident) telling me of a new and improved ride experience on both of these rides. Apparently, Jurassic Park will be much the same but ALOT wetter with all sorts of water cannons directed towards you at every oppurtunity but the Mummy description was much cloudier.

Apparently, Universal will be implementing an exciting, never-before-experienced element in to the already popular attraction so I was wondering if anybody closer to the heart of the action could shed any light on this!?

Many thanks in advance guys,

They need to add the scarab attack things in the seats at Orlando, like they have in Hollywood. It'd be easy to do I'd imagine. Just a bunch of air pushing through straws.

Wow, you sound like your part of Universal PR....

Anyway, when i was on Mummy last I didn't notice anything "new".

The new ending at ROTM in Hollywood is horrible. I had never been on the original, but it couldn't have been any worse. I do like the backwards portion and the scarabs better at Hollywood and if it were just a bit longer it would be better, but it's even shorter than Orlando. And the queue in Orlando is the best thing involved in either attraction.

We got drentched at JP as well. Many more water effects throughout, but we got very wet after the big lifthill in the building (where you don't get an ounce of water in IOA) and the drop had added spray cannons. I personally thought it didn't add anything to the attraction at all. You get just wet enough at IOA. But I do think the T-Rex's at Hollywood are better.

Universal needs to stop saving money on the animatronics/electricity and keep the damn dinosaurs moving. I don't like it when I can see the dinosaur completely motionless then all of a sudden start moving when we approach.... And then see it motionless again before we are even completely past it.

terrible.

I only wish we did. There's a lot of space under that scene, but there's also the entire track switch mechanism. Ours is still better, though-- and is getting better....

That would be nice. Though with BTTF closed, it's going to take a lot more than that to get me back to USF. If they changed T2 3D in the near future, it will be easily the worst park in Central Florida.

Hopefully Wizarding World will not disappoint at IOA because that park desperately needs something worthwhile added to it because it hasn't happened since.......opening day.

I've heard of attraction bias before, but this is ridiculous. BTTF was an outdated concept that was in terrible condition. It was far from being one of the park's best attractions and it's removal hardly puts USF in contention for worst park, a status MGM will continue to hold for quite some time.

BTTF was probably my 2nd favorite attraction at USF with T2 3D being the best. BTTF was in bad condition, but that's the park's fault and now they are replacing it with a franchise that really isn't any newer and although the film comes out this week, I doubt it will be that much of a success.

And USF was the worst park before BTTF closed anyways, now there is just less incentive to spend less time at IOA to go to USF on my trips there. Sure IOA hasn't added anything decent, but they still blow away USF. ROTM was a disappointment in my eyes (decent, but not great) and attractions like Earthquake and Jaws have always been sub par to me.

As far as MGM comparing to USF, there is no comparison. They have nothing to compete with Tower of Terror as far as complete attraction goes and RNRC is more thrilling than anything they have as well. I really like Shrek 4D, but I think Muppets gets the slight edge because of the preshow. And in terms of stage shows, USF has jack squat. Fantasmic vs. 360? Give me a break.

MIB is probably the best "ride" at USF. I think the ride itself is a bit overrated, but the queue and storyline are vastly underrated. Toy Story Mania probably won't be as good of an overall attraction, but I expect the ride portion to be better. ET is a bit dated, but is still a classic and is a nice dark ride. Hopefully an elaborate dark ride is in MGM's future.

It won't be a success? The Simpsons franchise has people lining up to visit a 7-11. Nothing else even needs to be said there.

MGM obviously has an edge in shows, but it's overall attraction lineup starts to look pretty pitiful once you get to the rides. ToT is nice, but one great ride does not a theme park make. RNRC isn't even comparable to Mummy when it comes to themed experiences. I honestly don't know too many people who prefer the former. We'll see what Toy Story Mania brings to the table, but if the conceptual images I've seen are any indication, I wouldn't get my hopes up. As an aside, I find USF's overall theming blows MGM out of the water, and the distance between the two will only become greater when World Expo finally gets axed in favor of Springfield.

The reason for that is because it looks like more imagination and thought went into the 7-11 transformations than went into the films. Have you seen the commercials? They are possibly the worst I've ever seen for a big studio release. I think the film has a chance to gross over $100 million, which isn't bad, but not the type of money that a Simpsons movie would have brought in about 10 years ago. I could be wrong, but I expect to see a large opening weekend and lose steam fast.

There are people out there who prefer ROTM to RNRC? I haven't seen that many. ROTM has a great queue and a nice AA in the opening scene, but the rest fizzles and it isn't nearly as intense of a ride either. And the story to RNRC is pretty decent and the reason it gets the edge over ROTM in that department is that, unless you wait in the first room of the queue longer than you have to, you won't get to watch all of the preshow for ROTM which provides most of the story.

USF does have some good themeing as far as park atmosphere goes, but ruin most of it by playing pop music in many areas. I know it isn't a big deal to a lot of people and they might be right, but it has always bothered me. Why spend all of that time themeing visually and just ignore the audio themeing completely?

ToT is nice, but one great ride does not a theme park make.

Men In Black anyone? :lookaroun
