This was on another thread, so I am doing the honors.

I wish somebody would start a thread about wdwmagic names and what they mean...

I will start:

"Yellow Shoes" because that what Mickey and Minnie wear (sometimes)

My alma mater, The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, has a mascot called the Mocs. It is short for Mockingbird (don't laugh). :)

Turbogames, this one is kinda long. I was thinking of an e-mail address and my sisters fiance, said, sarcastically, why dont you use turbogames. Turbogames is a local game store, that I really liked. So I just used it. Then I used it for other stuff so I could remember it.

I thought it was for Mocassins (the snake).

Mine basically evolved out of me trying to come up with something I found memorable that would fit the theme of the site. As I recall, I went though ideas like "Walt himself," "Walt's cousin Wilt," and "Wilt Disney," before settling on this one. I thought of integrating a whole built-in story for the name, such as 'Wilt Dasney is a farmer from Iowa who always has to tell confused callers that he isn't Walt Disney and to please stop calling him asking questions about animation unles they want to buy some corn.' Probably better I didn't, eh?

Well... I always wanted to be named Maria, being mexican, that is the stereotype... so I had to go with it, but my real name is Elaine Bennes... :D:animwink:

I just couldn´t be more original....

Well, for those who haven't figured it out, no2apprentice is the abbreviation for number 2 apprentice.

Two reasons.
1. No matter how hard I try, I will never be as cute as Mickey - I will always be number 2! (like it would ever be close - lol)

2. I've always related to the Scorcerer's Apprentice segment more than any other Disney film. You wait for the boss to leave, then you take the easy route on your task/job, and, well, you know the rest!

As for the confusion over the UTC mascot, I think I can help: The old nickname was indeed "Moccasins," and they used that for many years, along with an Indian mascot to complete the theme. However, UTC eventually succumbed to pressure from Native American groups to drop the ethnic imagery; their solution was to shorten the nickname to "Mocs" and replace their Indian mascot with "Scrappy," an cartoonish version of the state bird, the mockingbird. Officially, "Mocs" isn't short for anything these days, I believe; those who try to figure it out themselves are led to assume it means "Mockingbirds," since that's what the mascot is, while those more familiar with the athletic program's complicated history know better.

Hope that helps.

Not much to my name either. Main Street USA is the very first thing I see when I enter my favorite place in the World (thats both the world, as in earth, and world, as in WDW).

Couldn't believe it wasn't taken yet when I first became a member!
