Yet Another Mouse Planet Adv. Club rumor!

Here's the link--
http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=wd051205mg

Here's my quick take--

1) Removing BET, Adv. Club, and Rock n' Roll Beach Club, leaves only 4 clubs--not a real reason to go to Pleasure Island (if Motion is included in that mix, then that leaves only Comedy Warehouse, 8Trax and Mannequins).

2) Moving Adv. Club to 8Trax? Very expensive since it would have to be completely rebuilt.

3) Just how many theme restaurants can DTD support before you hit the saturation point?

4) Most Likely scenario? Removal of Rock n' Roll as well as the stage and the shops adjoining it, where you have room for 1, maybe 2 new restaurants. Adv. Club and BET remain leaving a total of 6 clubs, and moving the Harley Davidson shop over to the Changing Attitudes space (and possibly taking over the space where all that Pirates stuff is-can't remember the name of the shop).

"Frankly", I'll just wait until an official announcement from Disney.

I've said it before, and I'll said it again. I just don't see them closing the Adventurers Club.

If it wasn't making money, they'd have included it in the "$10 one club ticket" option. The Comedy Warehouse and Adv Club were the only ones not included in that option. That points to the fact that those are the only ones that didn't need help.

I'd say it's more likely for them to extend the island behind the club so that it's no longer on the water than it is for them to move it across the street.

I also wonder where these MouseFest folks got their info. Especially since everything we hear from the cast and crew of the Adv Club and from Joe Rohde is that the Adv Club is safe.

I'll believe it when I see something official. Until then I'm not going to stress over it.

I agree that having 3 or 4 new themed restaurants simply won't work. It is overkill. I think RnRBC into an entertainment complex and 1 or 2 taking over BET and the West End Stage area is much more likely.

get rid of BET... the only worthwhile aspect of that club is Monday Night Football on Mondays and cheap beer when the AC is out of CO2

I agree, until I hear it from official sources I am not concerned.

I disagree...to a point.

I don't think Adv Club should be removed, as it is popular, and it adds diversity to the island's offerings.

The problem is that PI has too many dance clubs...there are 5, while 3 would probably do the trick, maybe only 2.

Motion and Mannequins are redundant.....and Mannequins does not open the 2nd level anymore on many nights, and I can not think of the last time the 3rd floor was open. That being said, Mannequins could fill easily if it had the crowd from Motion directed to it....although Motion allows 18+ each day, Mannequins does not.

The RnR Beach Club is a ghost town even on many of the busiest PI nights....it needs to go.

The shops...does anyone buy anything at these places?

8-trax....seems to work, and it appeals to the older crowd (25+), but it needs some work.

BET....I have never been in....and it may have to remain if the BET sponsorship is tight.....but otherwise, it could go.

If BET, the shops between AC and the Beach Club, The Beach Club, and Motion were removed, it would not be a bad thing.

Add, in their place, some diverse attractions. Not plain restaurants, but establishments that offer attractions. If a bunch of restaurants are added, you end up with Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe (an endless line for a few years, then people realize the food sucks, and now it is under-used)

Raglan Road is nice, as it offers food, drink, and entertainment.

Perhaps something like http://www.splitsvillelanes.com

Or, if rumors are true, http://espnzone.com (although my personal opinion is that ESPN Zone would replace DisneyQuest

I personally would like to see http://www.tradervics.com/index.html

There is always This place :D

ROFLMAO!!! Although this theme seems better suited for Universal--Fear Factor!!--The Restaurant!

I've always thought that since DTD has a Harley-Davidson shop, why not expand on the idea and create a Harley-Davidson restaurant/club? Make it somewhat similar to Hard Rock Live, but with a decidedly "rock n' roll/biker bar" attitude.

As usual, I find myself agreeing with Speck76 (where were you this weekend by the way, we missed you at the AC).

You're absolutely correct in saying that PI does not have the demand for 5 dance clubs. I do think they could meet the demand they do have with just 3.

I think they need to close 2 of the dance clubs as well. I think they need to take out BET and the Beach Club. Then aim at getting the BET target audience into Motion and moving Mannequins away from being quite so Techno. Any fans of "Classic Rock" that is supposedly being lost with the Beach Club could be funneled toward a reworked 8-trax, that isn't so campily Seventies.

This then frees up the real estate from both stages, BET, the stores and Rock and Roll Beach Club for development.

That reworks pretty much all the dance clubs, and leaves the Comedy Warehouse alone (although I wouldn't be heart-broken if they would bring in a headline comedian every now and again to change things up there); and leaves the Adv Club rightfully out of any changes. It's not broken, don't mess with it.

I LOVE the idea of a Trader Vics location (say where is BET is, which could be a great visual tie-in to the Adventurers Club?)

I also agree that a food/entertainment venue would work well where the Beach Club is. Do they have Dave & Busters in Florida? We had them in Dallas and they could be a lot of fun (Depending on the crowd that was there and who we were with). Plus having this kind of entertainment facility might also keep some of the families with kiddies out of the AC. Which would be a major plus in my book.

I think with those two additions plus another restauraunt that is supposed to go in on the other side of La Nouba, the viability of Downtown Disney as a whole would be much improved.

Wow. Would you look at that? I've just solved all of the Pleasure Island problems. Maybe I should be making the big decisions and the big money over there.

I didn't forget it. I BLOCKED IT OUT!

It's a neccessary evil. But I don't see them putting in a parking structure to provide more parking, so I think we're just going to have to live with it.

I was watching the Candlelight Processional, and went to MVMCP

I have a bunch of Christmas parties over the next 2 weeks, so I don't see being back for a few weeks.

RE: Dave and Busters, there was an article a few years ago in the paper that they did not see the company expanding into Orlando due to the amount of competition here, and since they are now pretty much nationwide, they would not get the tourism benefit that unique to Orlando concepts get.

Also....it is not as if DisneyQuest has been a huge success.....it opened with the pay-via-card pricing like D&B's has....it did not last.

Personally, I would not be surprised if DQ is closed in a few years, once they have something decent to replace it with (like ESPN Zone)

Sorry Speck. I think I miscommunicated. I DON'T think AC should go anywhere. It is the only thing on that side of the island, though. I meant turn RnRBC into something along the lines of a Jillians and take over BET, West End Stage and Comedy Warehouse into 2-3 restaurants. I personally think having one being built over the entry ramp would be a cool concept. Nice martini bar place or something. Call it Bridge. Dunno. Anything. Then keep 8-Tracks, Mannequins, and perhaps Motion but rethemed.

Whole point was that AC is the one thing that works. Expend anything else.

Sorry but that would be impossible. Jekyll and Hyde's can legally not expand beyond their two NY locations. Disney sued and won in a lawsuit that it was a complete ripoff of AC. They were forced to abandon all future expansion. However, Disney allowed them to keep their two current locations. However, since it was Disney that sued them you just never know. Honestly, its just to similar to AC for their to be two of them.

Yeah, I'm aware of the legal issues involved, and didn't mean that Jekyll and Hyde itself should come to PI, just something in that style.

My point is...more of a good thing is an even better thing.:D

What about a dinner show type of thing for over 21s?? My thought was along the lines of The Haunted Mansion, any more thoughts on that??
