We go mid August every year as well and we find the crowds to be very low. We never have to wait long for anything we don't fastpass.

I love the Yacht Club - it has more of an adult/mature feel to it than Beach Club. One down side is that some of the rooms can be very far away from the pool and lobby area. If you don't mind that, Yacht Club is the way to go!
