Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure vs Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Hagrid's should be compared to Tron, in which case, Hagrid's wins by a mile. Cosmic Rewind is perhaps more closely related to Gringotts, in which case, Cosmic Rewind wins.

News Disney Park Pass System announced for Walt Disney World theme park reservations

Oh, good. This wasn't totally clear, I ended up finding it mentioned as in a line near the bottom of the park reservations start page. This is a little better.

News Disney Park Pass System announced for Walt Disney World theme park reservations

Wait, can someone clarify this? Whether it's a "good to go" day or a "reservation required" day, if it's after 2 PM, do Annual Passholders not have to worry about the reservation? That would help a lot as I rarely go before 2 PM anyway.

News Disney Park Pass System announced for Walt Disney World theme park reservations

The way they're still playing wildcard with the Annual Pass "good to go" days is insane to me. Like, how much of a difference can it really make? Oh no, if we drop these AP reservations we might get 100 additional guests in the park today! Even though we're nowhere near capacity! Clinging to...

    Kong - skipping outside portion

Agreed that Tapu Tapu is innovative, but the park as a whole is not super amazing. The landscaping does the bulk of the work. I maintain that, at least of the water parks I have seen, Typhoon Lagoon remains the one water park that feels like a natural setting and has theming on par with the...

Yeah, ideally a land should have at least one E ticket, one D or C ticket, and one B or A ticket.

    Kong - skipping outside portion

I don't disagree with the overall message of your post regarding stagnation, but I had to single a few things out. Are you saying it is better than anything Disney has done or just their water parks? Because it's not even better than Typhoon Lagoon. Okay, the slides are, but the wave pool sure...

    Parks music question during holidays.

Yes! The parks completely overkill the Christmas music. It's fine at the park entrances. Otherwise it is ruining the intended theme of the areas. Anyone who vacations in Orlando from mid November through the first week of January will endure a nauseating amount of Christmas music.

    Hourly Capacity Data

From what I understand, the dispatch interval has always been the same and the actual ride length has never changed. With the older sequences that had less drops/lifts, you spent more time at the bottom of the drop shaft watching the ending projection screen before the elevator backed away...

    Kong - skipping outside portion

Gringotts used the right ride system and vehicles for the concept but executed it in a way that kind of blindsides people and leaves them a little let down. The films show the bank carts as a wild rollercoaster-like ride so that's what you expect, especially when it is considered a roller...

That's the theoretical max in a perfect simulation of the ride.

    Kong - skipping outside portion

Exactly. A major reason why Kong (mostly) "works" as an attraction. It makes sense to be on a big safari truck. They also clearly put more effort into the additional scenes. Hence why this thread is important - Kong, while not amazing, is an attraction worth keeping around for a bit and they...

    Kong - skipping outside portion

If you ignore all the references to skits that Fallon was doing at the time and has mostly stopped, AND Fallon himself (I actually don't mind him as a host but his lines in the ride are... not great), the actual ride is actually decent. I find it considerably more fun than Minions as a motion...

    Hourly Capacity Data

I know the exact numbers for two attractions: Tower of Terror: Each side, with two load shafts operating and the max four vehicles online, can dispatch every 90 seconds. (3600 / 90) x 21 seats per elevator = 840 x 2 sides = 1,680 riders per hour as the theoretical max. Expedition Everest: 54...

Disney also demolished half of Hollywood Studios and built Toy Story Land and, more importantly, Galaxy's Edge in its place in only approx. 30% longer than it took Universal to build just Velocicoaster. But that is never mentioned, because it doesn't fit the standard theme park nerd narrative...

    Kong - skipping outside portion

I mean... actually, yeah. But viewing it through edited scenes from up close cameras vs. from far away on a static stage makes a big difference in how engaged you feel in the action. The choreographed fight scenes in the stunt show are not intense or engaging. Bourne strolls along and takes out...

    Kong - skipping outside portion

IMO Bourne is a really neat tech demo, but a boring show with bad pacing, an incoherent plot that's almost non-existent, and lacks suspense. T2 3D was legions better and more engaging. I'd rather ride Fast honestly. I mean no disrespect to the Bourne performers as they are obviously talented.

    Kong - skipping outside portion

The track record isn't as great as theme park fans like to believe. Going back a decade: 2014: Diagon Alley - great as a whole, but Gringotts and Hogwarts Express are not as stellar as they could have been. 2016: Hulk redo - technically a plus, but always came off as doing the bare minimum to...

Rivers of Light - Time for a reevaluation?

The original iteration of Rivers of Light, before they forced IP into it, was the closest thing we've had to a new IllumiNations-style night show. AKA, using the technology to do an art performance and not just to show you things you're already familiar with. The music was great. It just needed...

    Kong - skipping outside portion

If we can have a stickied thread for 15 years about the status of the yeti, then occasional updates on this issue are fine too. The quality of the ride experience takes a pretty big hit without the outside intro. It's not a particularly great ride to begin with so I feel this is pretty important.
