News EPCOT to be festival-free for summer 2024

The real crime will be if I can’t mooch off an equivalent cast discount to the 20% off M-Th festival booths as in the past. :)

Rumor Lion King Flume Ride being considered for Animal Kingdom

Also why ultimately I am glad we never got Beastly Kingdom and instead got Pandora, and why I think a redo on the southeast corner of the park can be a net positive. Pandora was executed as a pitch perfect fantastic adventure that meets the theme of the theme park and why I think it’s become the...

News Victoria & Albert’s awarded MICHELIN Star

Great to see them come back even better after the long time off. Might need to go next time I am in the sweatiest place on earth.

    DisneylandForward

Number 1 reason I don’t think DLF ends with a third gate. This is the last easy expansion area the company can build on in Anaheim. Why try to do a blowout in the next 10 years when you can slowly walk out expansion over the next 20-25 years? Northeastern areas of both gates probably get huge...

    DisneylandForward

I think the pedestrian bridge could go up really fast depending on its size and what the city expects out of Disney on shutdowns. Site work and bridge construction work in parallel and they lift it into place overnight and then secure it? Might be too big to do that, idk.

    DisneylandForward

Absolutely nothing is locked in on what will happen to the property here yet; this is just a rezoning to let them improve the land with much more latitude than they used to have.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I think it’s more fun now. I’m sorry everyone.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I think they have been hesitant to attempt an attraction based on this IP because the entire experience an audience could experience in that world cannot truly be surpassed, substituted, or sequelized from the 1994 animated movie. If it’s attempted, I think you could do an omnimover ride with...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I’m still a little bent out of shape over Pixar Pier and feel like it is a downgrade from the 2012 DCA, but the Incredibles did make California Screamin’ better.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

I’m interested to see if it is real and the opening date they give for it. If it is a real thing it and they want to take a wave of capital projects in MK seriously it needs to be a Holiday 2026-Summer 2027 opening.

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

Cards on the table, I’m a longtime Brown Derby hater. Maybe one day I’ll take another chance.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

The parks have a good mix of attractions but they don’t have enough attractions. I think if the company were to open 3-4 major attractions over an 8 year span in MK and not include a new Mountain, that would be a strategic failure. You can’t phone it in with an addition like the mine train or...

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

If whatever comes next in DHS necessitates the removal of Disney Jr, I have to imagine that the attached Brown Derby could go as well. I don’t think it would manifest in a signature table service experience in SWGE because that seems way too proactive and creative.

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Tron suffers from being the most recent roller coaster (major attraction?) to open between the two chains after Guardians, VC, and Hagrids. I don’t expect Disney to ever build a ride like Hagrids, much less VC, but it still bites. I also think it would be a huge strategic error to not have a...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

Frozen Ever After is Iger’s historic myopia towards the park and general risk aversion made manifest.

    Please fix the monorail!

Most conventional rail projects in the United states currently clock in around $100 million per mile. Monorail guideway construction is a lot less efficient than rail construction, and the whole project would suffer from the lack of economy of scale — not a lot of monorail customers in the world...

News 'Beyond Big Thunder Mountain' Blue Sky concept revealed for Magic Kingdom

It is definitely possible that you can fill in the northern portion of RoA for an expansion in MK and not adjust the rail alignment. They can build an expansion both in and outside the berm. Fate of railroad ops comes down to 1) They might realign it anyway and 2) will likely need some...

My prediction: a concrete timeline for the Animal Kingdom renovation…’s new popcorn bucket release.

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

What the Disney Jr show provides is really important to the park, but it would not be a massive haul to build a new theater or retrofit one of the other theaters on the park grounds to do the show. I think an expansion through Animation Courtyard would move the show, not end it.

    “Something major” coming to DHS???

I think it’s possible that building goes away if they add in that direction no matter what they do. Play and Dance can be moved to a box somewhere else in the park and Brown Derby is one of the least essential restaurants in the park. Should invest in the Start Wars table service over in GE instead.
