I figured they would modify their plans for Fantastic Beasts now that the future of that series is in question (I didn't see them but I heard there was supposed to be five movies but the third one bombed). I'm guessing Zelda would replace what remains of the Lost Continent.

Regardless of the quality of Encanto, Disney Plus is likely making it so people don't bother seeing their animated movies in theaters. It's like, why pay for an expensive movie ticket (and that adds up for families) when you can just wait about one month and watch it at no extra cost at home...

I get what you mean. You will often see characters on tv shows making references to characters, quotes, concepts, etc to Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc even when when said tv shows are owned by a rival company but the same isn't true for Avatar. Now this doesn't mean that Avatar...

Unfortunately it will be the latter. It's just going to take a long time until they erase every trace of these characters from the resort since they were all over the place.

Yeah, some of this stuff can happen eventually in some form. Just look at what is happening with Epcot now. Some of these concepts date back to 2003 with "Project Gemini".

One of the weirder parts of this whole thing for me that is they are trying to dress up the whole thing as more friendly (apparently the lift hill will also be cheery as well) but... well they are still dropping you. The tone of these things feels off.

Yeah, if you just want the thrill of the drop there's plenty of other flume rides that drop you from higher places. You don't even have to go far for that. Both of the competition that tweeted (Journey to Atlantis at Sea World and Dudley Do Right at Islands of Adventure) have taller drops.
