So, for the social-media challenged, where can I find referenced Twitter thread?

Rumor Brazil is the frontrunner for a new World Showcase Pavilion

Except for the thatching, looks a lot like Star Wars Land.

    A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

Maybe the fee for using this garage will be much less than Mickey and Friends since it will be so much less convenient. (Where's the sarcasm tag again?)

    This weekend was insane!!!

I was there with family for three days about a month ago, Thursday through Saturday. Only Saturday was really crowded, but all three days were hot. However, there were so many ride breakdowns (and some show issues) I thought I was at WDW. BTMRR several times, Space Mountain multiple times...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Just to add a bit to this point, the reason Walt went "all in" on the New York Worlds Fair was to gauge how east coast audiences and their tastes would react to Disney-style themed entertainment.

Star Wars themed land announced for Disneyland

With courage in hand, he bravely wades into this discussion... But here's why I'm not okay with shortening the river. First of all, change is good. Let me get that point out of the way. A big part of the allure of Disneyland has always been how it has grown over the years. Lots of new stuff...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Thanks much for the answers. It occurs to me that by making the admission price artificially low enough, that they could get to the "predicted" 27 million attendance in the first year, or any other arbitrary figure. Should the Chinese overlords want this (not saying they do), Disney may not...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Of course people won't be able to go into the park in Shanhai for free, but is there any information yet, or even informed speculation, on how much it will cost? When I was in China for business, admittedly quite a number of years ago now, the admission price for tourist sites was less (much...

Bob Iger at WDW now ... BoD to Follow?

My take: With Shanghai and NGE winding down, and missing the boat (pun intended) on getting new cruise ships into the shipbuilding queue, there is plenty of space to drop 2B over 5 or 6 years and still be able to tell Wall Street that they are keeping P&R capex low. This is still true even if...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Everyone that says Iger is just avoiding the spotlight due to his nature, or simply strategically laying low, is so missing the obvious it is laughable. If the above reasons were truly the case, he and Tom and entourage could have taken the long, exhausting, trip to Asia a couple of weeks from...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Let's get real. Sure there are potentially lots of possible "explanations" why Bob (and Tom) would be official no-shows at the grand opening and topping-out events. But the fact that they were both in Shanghai at the time torpedoes all of them, except the remaining obvious explanation that...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Since a lot of speculation is going on right now in this thread, let me throw out one more bit of it. If ever there was a "park" with unrealized potential it is Universal Hollywood. I predict that Potter opening there next year will be like a dam breaking for that park, with increases in both...

Orlando shatters U.S. tourism record with more than 62 million visitors in 2014

I just took the first reference I found online for the 1000 (yes it was the gold standard Wikipedia). In the past I seem to remember estimates as low as 900 and as high as 1300, so the 1000 seemed reasonable for a back-of-the-envelope calculation. Of course hours could be increased as well...

Orlando shatters U.S. tourism record with more than 62 million visitors in 2014

Spot on. Quick calculation based on Maelstrom estimate of 1000/hour: 1000 x 10(hours/day for WS) x 365 days= 3.65 million. Presumably this 2+ million new people will be there specifically for Frozen, using up well over half the ride's capacity themselves, leaving the scraps for the other 11...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Sorry but this is just bunk (as is usually the case when someone says "I don't think you can disagree with me..."). If you look at my posts regarding WDW you will see that they are (mostly) all negative. I guess that makes me a hater, or a doom-and-gloomer. But, if you look at my posts...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

"The street" hates P&R, and all they need is an excuse to frown on any CapEx at all. They hate it for two reasons : They don't "get it ", see it as less sexy than other parts of the company. And more importantly, margins are relatively low.

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Sorry, but if the best investigating that the USC Annenberg School of Journalism can do is just "call The Huffington Post and ask for an official comment on why the article was pulled", then they should shut down the place and be done with it. Even the journalists at my high school would dig...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

Astute questions. And I think these questions point directly at the answer. The capacity increases for these particular two attractions are not being done due to clamor from guests, or not explicitly to make the day more "magical" for guests, or to enhance their experience. This is being done...
