Hi everyone -- Any tips for transit from the Treehouse Villas to Typhoon Lagoon? Going this morning so quick reply appreciated if possible :-)

WDW photography is much harder than I thought...

Here are a few more technical challenges I faced. 1) It was hard for me to settle on the right walk-around lens. I love my 50mm f/1.8 -- I love the detail and clarity of the images -- but it was just too long (on crop sensor) for most of what I wanted to shoot. My kit 18-135 is decent, but the...

WDW photography is much harder than I thought...

These responses are really great. I have some specific questions which I'll post soon (I'm busy now) and maybe share some of my hits and misses.

WDW photography is much harder than I thought...

Two years ago I got my first "real" camera (a Canon rebel) after using only point-and-shoots prior to that -- my recent trip to WDW (last week) gave me a chance to try taking some better-than-a-snapshot WDW photos. In the meantime I had come across and become a fan of the photos of Tom Bricker...

VIDEO - Part two of Imagineering's tour through Enchanted Tales With Belle

That looks great. Any idea what the hourly capacity on this is? Are there duplicate show rooms? Looks like it could generate some huge waits.

    DHS CARS LAND

There is a Planes movie in the works, but if I recall correctly it's straight-to-DVD (and there was some buzz about the trailer for Planes being godawful).

    DHS CARS LAND

CL would be great for HS -- think of what it's replacing! It's hard (near impossible) not to see CL as a giant upgrade. HS guest flow (pedestrian traffic) is very awkward and badly needs to be re-imagineered. Even more so if CL becomes a reality. I think there could be a permanent human...

    MM&Y closing for replacement

Terrible name! They couldn't come up with anything better? Anyway -- I wonder if this will be essentially MM&Y minus the labor-intensive choosing of photos. This is suggested by the blog post saying they're keeping "favorite elements of the current show." It's awfully soon for them to be...

    Why Does Mermaid Use Screens?

No one seems to have mentioned that mixed media sets including screens is a longstanding Disney dark-ride tradition. A few examples: If You Had Wings, Mexico, original Journey into Imagination, many others. Who knows, maybe they wanted to continue along that line.

    Battle Of The WDW Eyesores

tough question. IMO cake-castle is the least awful, by virtue of the other two being so INFURIATING.

Star Tours not randomizing scenes very well?

Not sure exactly what you mean by three main scenes, but I'm guessing you mean everything but the "transmission" sequence. If so, you have 2 choices (Darth Vader, Stormtroopers), 3 choices (Tatooine, Hoth, Kashyyyk) and 3 choices (Death Star, Naboo, Coruscant). Among these there are 2*3*3 = 18...

Twinkle Lights Returning to Hub in MK

The castle looked so much better with the trees at the base. Two things currently conspire to make the castle look stunted and ill-proportioned: 1) lack of trees, 2) the zipline. I say put back the trees and take the zipline away. And let people look *up* to see fireworks for Pete's sake.

Your Opinion .. RnR or Expedition Everest.. Which one is scarier??!

I agree that neither one is terribly scary, as thrill rides go. IMO EE is the scarier one because of the weird-feeling backwards part.

Aha! Disney Parks were never perfect...or were they?

Good point. We don't know. But I think there is in fact one area where we can pretty well guess what Walt would have thought -- this is with regards to anything that is broken or sloppy -- overflowing trash, burned-out lightbulbs, etc. He had no tolerance for that and wouldn't today...

Aha! Disney Parks were never perfect...or were they?

More fun facts about Disneyland '55 (these from Gabler's book): - When DL opened, "Tomorrowland" consisted of a dirt path that ended nowhere. They hadn't finished building it in time. - To pad the number of things to see around the park, Walt had various weeds around the park labeled with...

Outstanding article. I think new users on these boards should be required to read it as part of registering for an account :-)
