News Artist Point to become Storybook Dining character experience

Seems to me Wilderness would have better options for character dining. I suppose nothing is lost, ultimately, if the usual signature style is kept at dinner. But it’s worrying all the same, as a big fan of Artist Point and the preservation of WDW for adults in general.

News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

I also want to note the 60s pop thing that @yeti mentioned because that’s I gerestig from an architecture nerd perspective. The Victorian theme of latter Paradise Pier fit the coaster (as a faux boardwalk wooden coaster); the initial wacky postmodern look did too I guess (the “wooden” coaster...

News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

I haven’t been to TDS in years but my goodness have I read some disappointing things. Worse in many ways; at least DCA and IOA had flimsy excuses of being flawed parks desperate for a fix.

News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

I think the answer to your question is “yes”. And that’s the way things are going. Epcot isn’t DCA-levels of incoherent, but it’s on the same spectrum. Universal Orlando is certainly leaning in that direction; anyone come up with a unifying theory for gate 3 that I’ve missed besides being...

News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

The kicker is that the knock on Paradise Pier in the old days was that it was too Six Flags. But they (half-) tried to slap a Disney theme on it and it’s somehow come out even MORE Six Flags than it was before. Like honestly it reminds me of the Superman trackside decorations at Six Flags New...

    FOP or FJ?

I would say the story for FJ is not much better. The “flying benches”, the cringey dialogue, the feeling of it being a pastiche of disconnected Potter greatest hits... that’s what holds it back from being a perfect ride, IMO. In that sense it’s more similar than anything else to FOP. Otherwise I...

What is the best version of Space Mountain in the world?

Are we talking ideal state, or currently? Hard to beat Orlando’s in its heyday, and I’m still with Marni on its potential. Agree with others on the Anaheim-style layout being boring, and the curved speed tunnel never quite clicked for me. Paris is interesting as a variant but just doesn’t feel...

    Jiko or California Grill

I couldn’t say for certain; I feel like American wagyu is so new that I’d be surprised if it was someone else, but maybe it just wasn’t the American type to begin with. (I’m also thinking now that I recall it being at Flying Fish, which may also have been my problem.)

    Jiko or California Grill

Ah, gotcha. I had wagyu at Jiko once and thought it didn’t live up to what I’d had elsewhere, especially at that WDW price point—maybe it’s changed or my taste is arbitrary. (At any rate, I don’t take for granted that this discussion is a great problem to have to consider.)

Can I ask where this was? V&A’s?

    Jiko or California Grill

I haven’t had all the wagyu in the world or the World, but from my experience, i’d say not worth the premium at WDW.

    Best WDW Restaurants #3 MGM/DHS

I kinda like the small plates at Baseline but they don’t quite make a full meal. Otherwise I concur with the crew that takes a walk down the river. This also reminds me that I wish there were more solid options at the Boardwalk for this express purpose.

    Best WDW Restaurants #2: EPCOT

All the options in Japan are underrated. Not sure if the cuisine is too polarizing or what. Rose and Crown is not an exciting menu, but consistent and people-pleasing and sometimes you just need a good beer on the patio. Le Cellier ain’t what it used to be, sadly.

    A Spirited 15 Rounds ...

I mean, it’s kinda funny and displays a good sense of humor. But it’s kind of necessary as long as they’re pushing the idea that TSL isn’t a pure kiddie land.

Backlash against Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars in general

Woke up to the news that Kelly Marie Tran quit Instagram. Not too long after Daisy Ridley did the same. One more great fanboy moment for the list!

Backlash against Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars in general

What I meant was that a greater spectrum of representation in our movie leads doesn’t mean the white male ones are poison UNLESS they’re dull and mediocre. Which the new Han Solo is.

Backlash against Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars in general

Is Black Panther a movie about white men? I haven’t read the article in question but that question does frame the Solo problem incorrectly. I think the “white man” thing is shorthand for “white man coasting on privilege because he is actually boring and mediocre and not worthy of this story”...

Backlash against Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars in general

That drove me nuts. I’m still hopeful, though, that the Fantasic Beasts series gives us the romance of Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner -

And it’s not like six lane freeways full of buses and rental vans are some gold standard to live up to here. Transportation is transportation.

News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner -

Don’t give them any ideas. I remember from my ski bum era when some of the more corporate resorts started putting mini billboards on the lift poles. The poles themselves didn’t really distract from my nature experience but those dang ads did. I’d kind of expect them here.
