Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

True. And there weren’t as many videos online telling you how to cheat back in the days of GAC. But I’m not gonna lie, if you came to me today and said, “If you go tell that stranger over there on the street corner, who you’ll never see again, that you 💩your pants, I’ll give you $500,” I’d do...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

To be fair, the abuse was still very different. GAC was an unlimited, immediate fast pass, essentially. No waiting for return times, no limits on rerides, given out like candy (I posted earlier in the thread of a man who was given one because he claimed he sometimes “wobbled” when he stood)...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I can’t speak for everyone, but I had a friend visit a few times who used a DAS pass. My husband works during the day, so it would usually just be me managing our 2-3 kids by myself (youngest is currently 20 months, so still of carrying age) when I’d go to the parks with my friend. When we’d go...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

True. But everyone has their limits. Less-happy customers eventually turns into less customers if they’re left unhappy long enough.

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Having read through most of this thread, I’m convinced this is nothing more than shuffling the deck chairs on a sinking titanic. People say keep saying these changes will send the abusers to the standby line, or make them buy genie+. Okay, well, either way, it still equates to a longer standby...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

When I worked at KRR, I worked with a 30yo man who was known for picking up as many shifts as possible, worked 6-7 days a week, and often worked 10-12 hour a day when park hours allowed for it. A majority of a CM’s day at KRR is spent walking on that turn table. Or if not walking there...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

This may be a dumb question, but why does it cost money to rent wheelchairs and scooters? (not trying to be argumentative - genuinely asking)

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I don’t know if Disney would ever go this route, but - in theory - I wonder if they could just get rid of DAS all together and then say, “if you have trouble waiting in line, Genie+ is available to purchase, which gives you access to our lightning lane.” I’m not saying I agree with it, this is...

Rumor New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

This is 100% a problem of Disney's own creation. Back with paper FPs, GACs were an equal trouble as the current DAS because GACs acted like an unlimited FP. Back then, I was just a wee little front-line CM on multiple E-ticket attractions trying to tell management how bad the issue was. But...

    Death at Icon Park accident

Forgive me for not knowing the US legal system better. But if the family settled…is it all done now? Surely there must be more legal action to figure out who is responsible? We know two people were directly involved in adjusting the sensor against manufacturer regulations and recommendations...

    Death at Icon Park accident

Man, this is a lot to go through. I’m trying to skim, but it’s still sooo many pages. So far in my readings, a George and an Austin look to be responsible, but they both invoked the 5th amendment. It’s sad really. You spend all this time imagining typical evil villains behind horrible...

    Death at Icon Park accident

Because had the restraints never been adjusted by someone at icon Park, the seatbelts would have been unnecessary. This is not a case of the restraints FAILING. This is a case of someone who did not design, build, or test the ride making a modification without the manufacturer’s consent. It was...

    Death at Icon Park accident

I don’t see your average maintenance man making this adjustment of his own accord, because what would he care who can or cannot ride? At the same time, it probably was a maintenance man who made the adjustment, but not without someone at at least management level knowing about it and requesting...

    Death at Icon Park accident

Oh I agree. But I think between the fact that the ride was almost brand new (so no long history of a clean record to give the public confidence), combined with today’s social media spreading these kind of stories far and wide as well as a VERY vocal, notorious, and intense lawyer involved…I just...

    Death at Icon Park accident

Can’t say I’m surprised. Had it been rider error or misbehavior, I’d imagine they would’ve reopened it. But deliberate adjustment of a safety mechanism by….someone (will we EVER find out who?)…I would think people wouldn’t be so keen to ride it after that anytime soon. Especially with Crump as...

Hurricane Ian expected to impact Florida (updates and related discussions)

Fun canopy fact: Irma (I’m pretty sure) blew off the canopy from the Canada friendship boat dock and was never found. So it’s probably somewhere in the bottom of the lagoon to this day. Obviously, they got a new one after that.

Hurricane Ian expected to impact Florida (updates and related discussions)

After Irma (or some other recent hurricane that closed the parks), I took the kids to the parks the day before it closed and the day after it opened. I was always a day-of FP reserver, but in was only any to book a single fast pass even though the parks were dead. I asked a CM, and they said...

Hurricane Ian expected to impact Florida (updates and related discussions)

I was thinking of that too. Sometimes (though it’s rare), the friendship boats can’t operate because the high water levels make it impossible to clear some of the bridges.

Hurricane Ian expected to impact Florida (updates and related discussions)

Got a text from duke saying power will not be restored in our neighborhood until at least 8am tomorrow. Can’t complain too much since our manufactured home had no damage and we’re not dealing with 90° temps. And our generator is keeping our fridge running (gotta go catch it!)
