News Zootopia and Moana Blue Sky concepts for Disney's Animal Kingdom

Reminder that both the Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland versions of Space Mountain have been permanently rethemed to Star Wars. Reminder that nothing is sacred anymore.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Yeah I imagine if you asked Joe Rohde about it, he'd probably give you that as an answer. I always felt that there was a clear design choice on his and the Imagineering team's part to explicitly avoid doing rides that were just third person retellings (or "book reports" as we're calling them in...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

A sad and funny thought: there exists a universe where The Good Dinosaur was an actual critical and commercial hit and thus a universe where we'd probably be looking at Dinoland and Dinosaur being revamped into that. I guess it'd be a way to keep dinosaurs in Animal Kingdom...I guess.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Meh. I guess, but I think I'll let Roller Coaster Philosophy say it for me: The funny thing is in that regard, I'd say Expedition Everest worked more as a successor to the concept of Beastly Kingdom, even if it's not a dedicated land. In fact a while back over on Inside Universal here, I saw...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Tune in next year where they'll announce all new plans for Dinoland's replacement that will surely happen, this time with Raya and the Last Dragon and Strange World as the headliner IPs.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

It was also freaking ridiculous that they never bothered to ever scrub out the references to Beastly Kingdom even after the concept was obviously taken out back. To this day, the park's logo and ticket booth still features a dragon that has absolutely nothing to do with anything inside in the...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

The sooner you come to terms with the fact that Disney literally doesn't care anymore and will just make all of their theme parks into generic IP dumping grounds no matter how unfitting for the sake of pure capitalism, the better

News Zootopia and Moana Blue Sky concepts for Disney's Animal Kingdom

Yeah as much as I hate to say it, Joe Rohde is gone, and thus what Animal Kingdom had originally stood for is gone with him. The inmates have taken over the Aslyum and it won't be too long before AK is transformed into yet another brainless IP dump park.

News Zootopia and Moana Blue Sky concepts for Disney's Animal Kingdom

Not a Disney/Pixar/Marvel/Star Wars IP so not happening

News Zootopia and Moana Blue Sky concepts for Disney's Animal Kingdom

You know it's funny, I always lamented the death of Beastly Kingdom and considered it to be right up there as one of Imagineering's biggest tragedies and blunders... ...but honestly in hindsight, it turned out to be a mercy kill, as it absolutely would of been plundered and ravaged by Disney...

News Zootopia and Moana Blue Sky concepts for Disney's Animal Kingdom

I've always suspected a huge reason in why Disney never bothered to fix the Yeti, was because they were just waiting for Pixar or whatever company they own now to make up some Yeti/Himalayan IP that could just overlay with it

News Zootopia and Moana Blue Sky concepts for Disney's Animal Kingdom

So with Beastly Kingdom never coming to fruition and Dinosaur/Dinoland most likely being replaced by IPs, this means the original core concept of Animal Kingdom representing real, extinct and imaginary animals is 100% dead and buried and now it's nothing more than yet another IP park. RIP

Avengers Campus - Reactions / Reviews

I hate to say it, but I honestly think this cheap looking thing is probably much more interesting than whatever Disney made here:

News Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge - Historical Construction/Impressions

I mean...Hondo first appeared in The Clone Wars cartoon, all the way back in 2009. That was way before Disney took over, lol

News Rafiki's Planet Watch is closing Oct. 21st will reopen in Summer 2019

Wow, so it's actually completely shutting down. I just hope/wished they move their animal facilities somewhere else so they can bulldoze it and put something more substantial there. Animal Kingdom needs all the help it can get.
