I did not know about the firmware release. I will have to look into that. It might just tip the scale. The only thing that wont change though is the dual processor in the 7D vs 5D.

I agree with trading the 17-40 for the 16-35 but I have to leave my wife with a lens and she really like the weight and range of the 28-105. Most likely she will use the xti with the 28-105.
