Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Begging you to find some grass to touch. The media can’t even get the names of the parks straight. There’s zero chance anyone at the Atlantic even knows Tokyo Disneyland exists, let alone that another company owns it, or the status of their attraction roster. The only people who know this much...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

This is so exhausting. You know why. They don't want to be associated with SOTS anymore. At all. It's toxic. People refuse to see the basic truth and want to make it complicated, but it's not. Whether one person feels SOTS is racist or dated or whatever is irrelevant. Disney has chosen to ether...

Magic Kingdom getting a mixed light parade? I trust this source?

You can remove Fantasmic from the equation; it only serves to show that DL can run multiple nighttime shows successfully. Obvious MK doesn't have Fantasmic, but they ran MSEP with Wishes from 2010-2016. People watch the parade, and then they either go do something else or they fill in for...

I thought the exhibits were overall a letdown too. So much to work with, so much history, and it felt very surface and incomplete. And the space sucks.

I found the overall space to be a big letdown. For a museum celebrating the business of make-believe, the joint has the distinct vibe of an office building. There were some really interesting exhibits in the core exhibit space, but not much. I missed the temporary Miyazaki exhibit, which was a...

News Wondrous Journeys firework show coming to Disneyland

Wondrous Journeys is a straight up "celebration of animation" while WOC1 is very much about the one drop makes a ripple theme and how that is expressed in Disney and Pixar and Lucasfilm (and Marvel? Haven't gotten an answer on that one yet) IP.

I personally would not consider Texas until they completely solve their power grid issues (this is not a political statement - just a real problem). Too much of the state is subject to extreme weather events to have that unstable of a grid and have it be disconnected from the rest of the country...

Shanghai Disneyland closes due to outbreak of a pneumonia-like illness in China

COVID has completely shifted everything. No idea how Ocean Park is doing since the pandemic, but HKDL has significantly grown its local audience. It's got a long way to go, but it's a big (and good) shift for them.

Magic Kingdom getting a mixed light parade? I trust this source?

It's not 1:1, but TDO/WDW folks have now spent years making excuses about why their parks are somehow different than all the others, and it's how they've ended up with the World's Worst Disney Parks Entertainment Department. MK "can't handle" a night parade (even though it easily did for...

Magic Kingdom getting a mixed light parade? I trust this source?

Disneyland routinely runs two parade performances, two Fantasmic performances and a fireworks show on summer evenings. Looked like this in summer 2022: 8:45 MSEP (starting at small world) 9 Fantasmic 9:30 Fireworks 10:15 MSEP (starting in Town Square) 10:30 Fantasmic Having parade performances...

The WDW Railroad has long been the worst one of all. WDW guests don't expect show scenes or Primeval Worlds or what not, so none were given to them. It's also the least scenic trip of any castle park railroad IMO.

Heard booth food sales are not great this year. IMO the new menu items are not great. DCA has Viva and WOC-SOL, great musical acts, lots of fun decor. DL's Christmas celebration is stale and needs an overhaul.

Shanghai Disneyland closes due to outbreak of a pneumonia-like illness in China

Disneyland does not get a significant amount of international tourism. It's there, but it's a fraction. No idea about DLP, but I would imagine it's more of an even mix between French and broader European visitors.

Shanghai Disneyland closes due to outbreak of a pneumonia-like illness in China

You miss the point. SDL wasn't built for international tourists, it was never intended to be an "international beacon." It's aimed squarely at the Chinese. Just like TDR has been a massive success with very little foreign tourism --- it's for the Japanese. International tourism never played into...
