When do you prefer to arrive?

We used to take the first flight out of Chicago which would get us to the parks by lunchtime. We would then be exhausted by 7:00 PM. We now take a 10:30 or so flight and arrive early afternoon. After check-in, we are to the park to make an early dinner. This is what we'll be doing tomorrow...

    Yay!! An unexpected trip!!

Congrats on yoursurprise trip. There is nothing more awesome (ok maybe there is but this is a WDW fan website to rock on!) We leave tomorrow on my surprise trip! Again I say, Hooray for brothers!

    Boardwalk or Beach Club

If my memory serves, the Beach Club can sleep 5 (2 queens and 1 day bed). The Boardwalk only sleeps 4. Does this play a factor in your decision? We've always needed a resort that sleeps 5. Somehow we tend to travel in groups in multiples of 5.

To Croc, or not to Croc?

Love my Crocs and am taking them in 2 weeks. I will probably buy a new pair as these are a few years old. If you want to bring your Crocs, do so. If not, then don't. You know your feet best.

    14 Days

I haven't visited the forums in a very long time. So much so that I had to use the "forgot my password" feature to reset my password. Now that I'm back, it says I'm a "new member". How can I be new with 1,500+ posts under my belt? Whatever, I'm back. We'll be leaving in just 14 days on a trip...

    Resort Mugs???

I too like the resort specific mugs. Was trying to get a mug from every resort but that's not possible anymore.

    Christmas Proposal

Unless you have contacted the Disney event people or made special arrangements at one of the restaurants, my suggestion is to be ready to improvise. My husband had plans to propose in front of my parents at our home but I threw a wrench into the works and he had to scramble. He gave my my ring...

    Engagement Proposal

My cousin and his girlfriend had always joked that they wouldn't get engaged unless it was at Disney. So, my cousin proposed during the fireworks in the Plaza Rose Garden just to the right but still in front of the castle. My brother videotaped the proposal and a dear friend snapped pics...

    Dream Resort???

The Poly hands down! It was our first "on property" resort and has remained our favorite.

    Proposal Ideas???

And I love telling it Pam. BTW, the happy couple are doing great.

    Proposal Ideas???

In August of 2006 my cousin proposed to his now wife during the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. I have posted this story before but it is always fun to tell it again. Paul and Bre had been dating a couple years. Paul had done the College Program and wanted to share his love of Disney with...

Moderate Resorts - Your views on them?

Hope I'm not to late to weigh in. CBR has a wonderful food court as does POR. The rooms between the Mods are pretty standard so if a Caribbean feel is more to your liking than an "old south" feel, choose CBR. My fav Moderate is POFQ. The reason I prefer POFQ is the size of the resort. While...

After Deluxe Resort can I ever go back??

We are leaving in about 20 minutes for our 10th stay at the Poly. It was the first on property resort we stayed at and it is our fav. We've also stayed at the Contemporary 3 times, Grand Flo once, Yacht Club one and every moderate. We love being on the monorail but the price sometimes...

Magic Kingdom for about 4 hours??

For our son's first trip to WDW (he was 5 1/2), we had driven down from Chicago all night long and arrived at the Poly at 3:30 PM. He had slept about 18 of the 22 hours so he was raring to go. My husband, brother and I were exhausted having done the actual driving. What we did was have dinner...

    Bathing suits in September?

and don't forget the waterparks, one of them is open year round. During the winter season one waterpark is closed for a period of time for maintenance (i.e. painting etc.), when it reopens the other one closes. This ensures that both parks are in ship shape when spring break season starts.

What To Do If It Rains?

We have found that reverse psychology works with the rain in Florida. We always travel in the summer (June 20-29 this year) and have had to deal with the rain. What we have discovered, when we carry our ponchos, it DOES NOT rain. When we don't have our ponchos with us in the park, it pours...

    Tipping the room cleaning staff?

We tip usually $1/day per person in the room. I miss the days of the kids bringing a stuffed animal with them on vacation. The "kids" are now 22, 21 and 18. The mousekeeping staff would always arrange them in some cute way: rabbit tucked into the bed with remote control in his hands; Disney...

    Riverside or French Quarter

While there are 4 bus stops at Riverside, the compact size at FQ makes it the better choice for me especially at the end of the night when walking back to your room after a long day at the parks. You just don't have that far to walk for anything at FQ. Love the New Orleans feel of the resort...

What do you do when you ruined your own Disney Proposal?

Our proposal was not planned for a WDW proposal but I non-the-less ruined my husband's proposal plans and he was forced to improvise. I will not bore with the details as I have posted this story before on this forum. To make the story short, he gave me the engagement ring as we were driving 65...

Pros and Cons of NOT using DME?

We especially love the luggage aspect of DME. We get off the plane, make a rest room stop, and then head directly to the DME check-in desk. We have made it from plane to resort check-in to a park in about 2 - 2 1/2 hours. We always pack 1 day's worth of essentials in our carry-ons (i.e...
