    Walt Encounters

Long ago in the early days of Disneyland, Walt himself would occasionally be seen in the park. Does anyone who may have been fortunate enough to have encountered Walt disney have any stories or pictures to share?

    WDW...Grand opening hype...

It was a very big deal and highly anticipated. I remember watching the announcement of the plans and updates from time to time on Walt Disney's World of Color TV show. Walt himself described the plans and his vision for the park. The grand opening was a national news item. I didn't go there...

1st visit to WDW when was yours & were you celebrating anything specific?

Honeymoon October 1980,3 days then went to Daytona. There was only MK and River Country and a little Downtown Disney. Used up all our ride tickets and bought more. I think it cost like $12 to get into MK. River Country was like $8. We could see something huge was being built off in the distance...

Just walk up and see if they will seat you if you can't get a reservation. You may have to wait a little but we've gotten lucky doing that.

Worst ride to get stuck on?

Have been stuck on Splash, HM, PoC, SW, SSE for various lengths of time but never had to walk off any of them. Universal however is another story. Had to walk out of ET once after a long wait. And got stuck in Mummy in the room with the flaming ceiling. The flames were out but the room was...

Admit something shocking in this thread...

I thought Mr.Toad was lame. I have never been on Tea Cups. I think any adult caught riding in a double wide stroller should be banned for life.

Was the OG Journey Into Imagination that great?

I agree with all the previous comments and don't know what more could be added but I'll try anyhow. We first experienced EPCOT right after it opened and JII was one our first rides. As with other's, we were just totally in love with this attraction. It was a many-repeat ride and we never got...

The wierdest things that will give you the disney feel

OK, this is really wierd. There is an underground passageway between terminals at O'Hare Airport that has lots of neon lighting and futuristic music playing, etc. Everytime I fly through O'Hare and use this I think of EPCOT.

Which Table Sevice restaurants should be avoided?

As stated, it's all opinions, but we tried the following and were less than impressed: Wolfgang Puck Dining Room House of Blues ( I've had much better barbeque) Ankershus Coral Reef (been a while, may try again) Cindy's Table food was average, but if quality time with the princess...

Do You Remember Your First Disney Attraction Experience?

1980, our honeymoon. First was Tiki Room, I think it was a C ticket. For many visits after we kept tradition and went first to Tiki. (after my son got tall enough, we swtiched to Splash ) Our first EPCOT was SSE, just a couple months after the park opened, we were in awe.

    one trip- mulitple resorts

We've probably resort hopped on a dozen trips and never had an issue with getting tha bags transferred. Call a bellman on checkout morning, tell them to send the bags to the next resort, by mid-day they were always there.

    Changing resorts during a stay

We do this every trip, usually we stay at 3 resorts. Just pack your stuff in the AM, call a bellman and inform them of the resort you are transfering to, check your bags and be off to the parks. Your stuff usually makes it to the next resort by mid-afternoon. Its very easy and a great way to see...

This Yinzer family is going 6/11-22. I always take along my Kennywood hat and that always draws comments from fellow Yinzers.

    Disney works best in US

We've been to WDW, DLP, and DLR multiple times as well, and Florida just has the complete package. There are things we love about each, but WDW is a unique place on this earth. As for you Brits, I love going to WDW in October when most of you seem to come to Florida. Your all a great crowd to...

    Crushes Coster

We rode it this past June. We waited about 45 minutes when it broke down. After about another 15 minutes the ride restarted and we got on. Very entertaining ride, worth the wait.

    New Years Question

If your a resort guest you will get in, but get there early. My only New Years Eve experience at MK was 12/31/05,the crowd was unbelievable. Main Street up through the circle was completly packed by about 9:00 PM, you could not get through the crowd. By 11:00 PM, the arms going out to each land...
