Official Moving to Orlando Thread... aka, ASK THE LOCALS!

I have a question... The company that I currently work for seems to be on its way out. In my field there are VERY few, if any jobs in my field. And if there are any, they don't pay well. In central Florida, there are many more opportunites and they pay better than here in Kentucky. My...

Disney Funds Michael Moore documentary bashing President Bush...

Firstly, I have seen his movies and I still don't agree with him. Secondly, if he is so anti-globalization and is against outsourcing, then why is his website designed by a Canadian company, and hosted by another Canadian company. I don't agree with Mr. Moore...I do however believe that...

Disney Funds Michael Moore documentary bashing President Bush...

To be so "anti-corporation", Michael Moore, sure takes advantage of them when it benefits him. Such as Harper Collins publishing his books, Disney/Miramax funding his new project, and MGM distributing is movies. If he hates large corporations so much, then he needs to stop being...

Favorite Places to Eat in Disney World

    1. Le Cellier 2. Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch 3. Boatwrights at POR for Breakfast 4. Rainforest Cafe (The one at DTD, I'm not fond of the AK one) 5. L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante MMMM...I just ate lunch, but I'm getting hungry again! Jason

The United Devices* Cancer Research Program

Nope, you don't have to be online 24/7. You just leave your computer on with the UD Agent running and it crunches away. The next time you connect to the internet, it sends the results and gets more data for your computer to crunch. I am on dialup and it works just fine. Jason

Is test track for the faint at heart

Test Track is fun, but not scary at all. I remember one of the ads saying "accelerates faster than a pontiac firebird". I remember thinking big deal, so does my car!! It is a little hokey, but a fun ride none the less.

    Port Orleans Riverside Boat Rentals

The last time I was there, they told us you could rent a boat and go up and down the river, but you aren't allowed into the DD marina. If you rent a boat at DD, you can't leave the marina. In fact we rented one of the water mice at DD and if you get too close to the entrance of the river, the...

The United Devices* Cancer Research Program

I too have been a part of this for quite some time. It is a very worthwhile use of spare computing cycles. During the whole post 9-11 anthrax scare, they sponsored an anthrax research project. They accomplished in a few weeks what would have taken several years to accomplish in a typical lab...

    Disney Dollars

Disney Dollars are good anywhere on Disney property...I have even used them at gas stations before! In fact I almost never take real cash with me to Disney World...Disney dollars are so much cooler! Hmm...maybe they should replace George Washington with Mickey Mouse on the $1 bill.

    Queue Line Technologies

The main differences between the "Q-bot" and fastpass are that six flags charges for use of the Q-bot. And also they usually just let the people up the exit ramp to jump in front of people waiting in line, instead of merging the lines like they do at disney. It's a really bad deal at Six...

    Disney Quest...

Yep, because your body and eyes aren't recieving the same input as if you were actually moving on a rollercoaster.

    Disney Quest...

You're right about Cyberspace Mountain. Having ridden over 70 rollercoasters I can say that (at least for me) you are more prone to motion sickness on this ride than on a real coaster. Something about it just doesn't feel right. Still alot of fun though! Jason

    Disney Quest...

It's alot of fun the first time. I spent around 8 hours in there. The next year I came back and it wasn't nearly as fun. There were no new games, and everything else was basically unchanged. Alot of fun, just not a repeat attraction. P.S. The bumper cars are fun, and cyberspace mountain...

    Liberty Tree Tavern

I believe the way it works now, is that during lunch you have a regular menu to order from, and for dinner you have the "family style" meal. At least it was that way the last couple of times I was there. Jason

    Liberty Tree Tavern

Bob, Liberty Tree Tavern is an excellent restaurant. I try to hit it for lunch as many times as I can during a trip. Their turkey and dressing dinner is to die for! The character dinner was ok. It kind of annoyed me, but if you have kids, it's great. They have 5 or 6 characters...

    Rainforest Cafe/WDW water

You're probably right about children being wary of the animatronics...i never even thought of that. All of the kids I've seen in the restaurant seem to love it. I guess I'm just a big kid, cause I love it too!! Especially when one of the rainstorms comes roaring through.:) You're right...

    Rainforest Cafe/WDW water

My family swears that the water and sodas taste bad. Personally I've never had a problem with it. But I would highly recommend Rainforest. I've eaten at the AK and DTD ones many times and they are both great!!:slurp:
