News UP! A Great Bird Adventure Getting A Rewrite

We really miss Guano Joe but glad the UP characters are gone. The show was fine, just the way it was.

News Flights of Wonder closing and replaced by 'UP! A Great Bird Adventure'

Why, just the other day I was taking a walk through the woods and heard several birds serenade me with "How Much is that Doggie in the Window". Very natural behavior for them. ;)

Disney springs not doing so well.....

Not true. The Mall at University Town Center in Sarasota is an enclosed mall built in 2012. Not saying there are lots of new ones but that one was built after 2007. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mall_at_University_Town_Center

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Maybe, but lots of other people in the world think so. Empire Strikes Back was just rated by Empire Magazine readers as the number one movie OF ALL TIME. Yes, over Godfather. Not saying that the masses make it right, but you are wrong if you think that Star Wars and Empire aren't considered...

Disney to reinvent the theme park shopping experience with new mobile app - Shop Disney Parks

Really stupid question, but does this mean I can finally get Mickey Pretzels sent to my home? Those things are addictive and extremely hard to find online, unless I want to spend $14 a bag via a third party reseller.

Trattoria al Forno to replace Kouzzina by Cat Cora on Disney's BoardWalk

I might be the only one, but I still miss Spoodles. Sigh.......

Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow to permanently close Nov 6

My gosh, the attraction wasn't THAT bad. It was (a) better than Narnia and (b) better than not having anything. Yes, the whole stomp your feet thing was silly but the effects were actually interesting and I will never turn down the opportunity to laugh at/with Jack Sparrow. Certainly not a...

    EPCOT Entertainment cuts

I could be wrong, but my guess is that the lumberjack show will be modeled after the one they partner with on the Disney Cruise in Alaska: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cruises-destinations/shore-excursions/ketchikan-alaska/the-great-alaskan-lumberjack-show/

    Goodbye Camp Minnie Mickey

Will definitely miss CMM and glad our daughter was young enough to have gone to the Pocahontas show. It really had a different feel than the rest of DAK, and that is not a bad thing. However, it was a bit "off" and not quite the land it was supposed to be when they thought of it.

Disney is going to scale back the Polynesian DVC plans in a big way.

There is not an official Florida Law that bans swimming in all public lakes. However, health officials do strongly urge against swimming in the lakes due to the health issues that can occur when water temperatures in those lakes go past 80 degrees. Thus, Disney can do what they want with their...

Disney is going to scale back the Polynesian DVC plans in a big way.

It may be upthread, but I missed where anyone said the lobby would turn into a glorified Comfort Inn. Love or hate DVC, possibly SSR notwithstanding, they do a decent job with their lobbies when they need to build one. In fact, Aulani (which I assume would be used as any basis for...

Disney's Magical Express testing pickup from Downtown Disney

Agree that not only would it be good to pick up at DTD, but if you could pick up at the parks would be even better. Why do they make you go back to your resort? I'm sure there is a rhyme and reason but it escapes me. More money/time spent at parks and/or DTD is a better vacation. JMHO.

    Backlot Express closing date????

There are already so few decent QS options at DHS, I would hate to see one taken away. Especially one that has air conditioned seating in the summer. Personally, our family enjoys BE. Their veggie sandwich is quite good and the recent addition of Buffalo Chicken Nuggets has been a plus. The...

"Lone Ranger Sneak Preview" at DHS

Nope. In the late 1980's regulations were loosened again and it is no longer illegal for studios to own theaters. That said, most studios don't want the hassle and there aren't many examples out there. However, Disney does own El Capitan in Los Angeles and controls all viewings there.

Resort Wi-Fi changes effective from today

Might also have something to do with conventions. Many of the resorts have convention space and this might separate that traffic from room traffic. Who knows, though? I'm just speculating.

    Backlot express long wait times

And I find it funny that anyone wants to spend time in their villa cooking food when they could be in a park enjoying the park environment. :) Not picking on you specifically as I LOVE to cook at home. But when I'm at WDW, I want to BE at WDW. I am a DVC member (5 home resorts!) and hate...

Disney to launch NextGen 'My Disney Experience' app for iPhone, iPad and Android

@TSoxNo1, it was also interesting that the ads inside the WDW Transportation Buses were all for Mobile Magic. Strange.

Disney to launch NextGen 'My Disney Experience' app for iPhone, iPad and Android

Just got back from WDW and the app was "ok". Biggest issue we had was trying to check park hours for future days. It seemed to "cache" the hours and then not bother updating them. Specifically what happened: * On Monday, checked park hours for Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday (trying to see what...

    SWWs all about the merchandise?

Really? I don't recall any stories of Alec Guiness throwing away his royalty checks each year. :animwink: That said, celebrity conventions really only have people who are no longer working celebrities. Is that bad? Not really. Why not let the voice of Watto get some fame if Natalie...

    SWWs all about the merchandise?

It also looks like Hoopla is a bit later this year. 8 PM. IIRC it has not been this late in a while. My daughter (12) and I have taken a mini Daddy-daughter holiday during SWW the last six years or so and really enjoy it. Again, this is something WDW doesn't HAVE to do and they don't...
