News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

How about Indy is pursuing a macguffin that will bring skeletons to life. We have giant dinosar skeletons that come to life like the pepper's ghost effect in Shanghai Pirates and Tokyo's Beauty and the Beast. Also, I need to be chased by a boulder.

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

"Excels at relative to their other skills" In Chris Beatty's case, he has the ability to pitch something to the point of getting a budget for it, then having someone else jump in and make the project better.

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

So you need more people from Universal Creative? In all seriousness, the lead Imagineers right now are probably Chris Beatty and Scott Trowbridge. The former excels in art direction, the latter excels at more ambitious attractions. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that Joe Rohde was...

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

What did that trip cost out of the attraction's $100 million budget? What did that attraction do to attendance at that park? Everest is the amongst the worst possible examples you could choose for an example of poor performance for Rohde.

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

You're not wrong. I mean sure, he opened two rides on the same day that had "throw your hands in the air and wave them around as if there are no repercussions" gimmicks to them. I can't defend that. But the overall quality and consistency of his work holds up against any Imagineer in the last...

News Splash Mountain retheme to Princess and the Frog - Tiana's Bayou Adventure

"It looks like Dr. Facilier is causing some sort of commotion downstream. Please stay in your boats"

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

You're not far off, but budget absolutely matters. Management doesn't get enough support at times for fully funding a project to make it great. Remarkably quick turnaround time, limited budget and a better attraction than the original.

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

I flat out reject this premise. His projects have had consistent "Disney timelines". His budgets have elicited more bang for the buck then pretty much anything Disney has done in recent history. Look at the attendance boosts generated by Everest and Pandora or the remarkably quick timeline for...

News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

Joe Rohde was very likely forced to do that project and did the best he could with it. I can't imagine this was something he came up with without a significant level of restrictions in place.

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

"People don't have super hero fatigue... look at all the non-super hero movies that people like... wait I'm not sure what I'm saying... Stock buybacks?" - Robert Iger, probably

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

Never this difficult. During the paper Fastpass days, Jungle Cruise would often be turned off on low crowd days.

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

It wasn't always the case that Jungle Cruise was the highest demand attraction. This is a Genie+ specific problem. This did not exist under Fastpass or Fastpass+. The systems themselves aren't fundamentally different enough for that to be the issue. They changed something at the attraction.

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

You and I have exchanged some thoughts on Jungle Cruise. Do you have any more insight as to what may be going on here? Are you also still of the impression that Genie+ distribution is fixed (and equal) at every attraction at just under 300 per hour with the remaining guests in that queue...

Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

The visuals are easy to post. What's very likely is that there was either downtime on the road, or the Genie+ wait was less than 10 minutes despite the bad visuals. Remember the sub 30 minute standby waits for things like Big Thunder during COVID when the queue was backed up to the River's of...

Guide to DLR for WDW Veterans!

My last few trips to Disneyland have been solo trips, but this summer I'm headed there with my extended family. This includes my autistic older brother and a total of 10 ticketed guests (I have a 2 year old as well who will be with us, but does not require a ticket). We will all be getting...

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Agreed, a Lion King dark ride makes a ton of sense. There's room South of the theater, and if they want to move some roads/parking lots, they could actually do something very substantial.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Most of the mistakes in WDW have been EPCOT in my opinion. All of this is a matter of opinion, but there will be plenty of singular attraction "swaps" that would get considered. Off the top of my head: Horizons into Mission: SPACE - As much as it pains me to admit, the intentions were good...
