Rumor Higher Speed Rail from MCO to Disney World

Do you know how SunRail -> Brightline -> WDW connectivity would work here? Would you have to make a train switch from SunRail to Brightline? Or would some of the talk of SunRail and Brightline sharing an east-west corridor perhaps enable one smooth SunRail ride from downtown Orlando to WDW?

Rumors for Remaining part of 2020

Masks are only going to get easier to wear as the weather cools down. I can’t imagine they’d relax rules on them, which are just as much for the safety of the employees as they are for guests.

News Walt Disney World theme parks increase capacity but see longer waits and less physical distancing

While winter will push people indoors in most states, in Florida it actually enables people to be outdoors more, which is preferable to limit the spread of COVID. Of course, nobody knows for sure as this is the world’s first winter with COVID, but the hope is that the winter may actually be...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

The 6,700 number only refers to the number of non-union employees being laid off at WDW. From the Orlando Sentinel: “It’s possibly only the start of layoffs as the company is beginning to negotiate cuts with its unions that represent Equity Disney performers, hotel housekeepers, ride...

    Disney's FY20 Q3 Earnings (8/4/20)

Some of you have a bizarre complex that forces you to turn every thread into armchair epidemiology.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Disney is still paying for their benefits (e.g insurance). If they get laid off, Disney will save that money. No idea how many people are still furloughed though. I’d assume most are back now since the parks reopened.

    Cash-Strapped Disney

I’m so sorry — this all stinks. Is it Cast Members still on furlough? One of the worst parts of all of this is people won’t get to say “goodbye” to their teams like they traditionally would.

    The Red Button Option

Maybe a stupid question, but I am assuming this is because there just aren't enough people wanting to come right now to justify opening 4 parks and all resorts?

    The Red Button Option

I had a similar thought. The cashflow reasons, I totally understand. But making such a huge and historic decision based on geopolitics that could change in 6 months would surprise me (though a lot of things have surprised me this year!)

Could you explain this a bit more? Just trying to understand those reasons. I hadn't heard of this before.

Disney to start Furloughs April 19th

That requirement has been waived in the state of Florida, due to the present crisis.

Disney to start Furloughs April 19th

The union is right in the posted statement that Disney should be pushing the FL government to strengthen the unemployment system. Cash to hire more people at the unemployment office, loaning workers to work the unemployment phones, etc. Keep in mind, Disney is a member of multiple business...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I wonder operationally too. More hand sanitizer stations to say the least!

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Threads about coronavirus and WDW are getting merged into this thread, and subsequently lost to discussion about coronavirus that have nothing to do with WDW.

News Club 33 coming to Walt Disney World this Fall

You do make a good case, with some interesting points that I appreciate! But I do think this is a big bet for WDW. My guess is the success of the other premium products has given them confidence to do this. But this is the biggest stretch yet as far as I can tell.

News Club 33 coming to Walt Disney World this Fall

This feels like a bad idea, but I’m open to being argued out of that view. I just don’t get who the audience would be. For Disneyland, they’re right in the neighborhood of big time companies who have corporate Club 33 memberships, and the high-powered influencers in the region. In Orlando...

    Pandoran problems 4.25.18

I’d be so mad if I was only there for a couple days and it was closed the whole time. I’d imagine some people probably planned their trips because of Pandora opening.

Most of America looks at us planning our Disney World trips and feels the same way.

You’re welcome to not use the Minnie Van. They’re not getting rid of the existing options.
