News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Another post above detailed what a "backup group" is (not guaranteed to ride). They let you know when you get the boarding group assignment. You must have all members of the boarding group scanned into the park to request your boarding group (when the park is open). DHS is currently opening at...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Recent experience here (Tuesday, 1/7/20). Those steps nailed it. - Park opened at 7a - we got there around 7:40-7:45a - got boarding group 144 (not good, backup group) - went to another park but followed the progress on MDE about every 30 minutes - group got called at 4:20p (we were very lucky...

    Aggressive/Nasty Security Member Encounter

My wife and daughter went there 2 weeks ago on a visit to Paris and didn't see any armed patrol or dogs.

    Unpopular WDW Opinions

I've been to WDW 20+ times. Before kids, with little kids and with our kids in college. The whole ECV/stroller thing is overblown. Traffic happens in the park, some ECV drivers need to have their licenses revoked and double wide strollers take up a lot of room. In the end, none of these things...

    Unpopular WDW Opinions

Perhaps an unpopular opinion but I feel most of the responses in this thread are pretty mild. - Alien Encounter was the greatest attraction in the history of Disneyworld. Period. End of Story. Also, in regards to prices. Park admission although substantial is a fraction of the cost of attending...

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

Some great stuff going on down there (was just there last week)... I think the Tomorrowland renovation of the 90's was great and I can't see if going back. If you want to reclaim some space... Carousel of Progress. Update Tomorrowland Speedway.... went on it (like we always do), just not fun...

News Gotta Pay2Play: Paid FP on the way!

I guess we are all getting tired of getting nickeled and dimed (but for twenties and fifties). My wife remarked at our trip there early this week that the standby lines were crawling with long waits for what looked like short lines. The FP+ system has made every other experience w/o them worse...

    Trip Report January 8/9/10, 2018

I forgot to mention that an odd highlight Was the March of the First Order at DHS. We are all familiar with Star Wars but not nut cases... and everyone thought it was so cool. I wouldn’t have made a point of seeing it if we weren’t entering the park while it was going on.

    Trip Report January 8/9/10, 2018

I'll be quick (like our vacation)... - Monday, MK in the morning and Epcot in the afternoon. Christmas music and decorations everywhere. Booked our FP+'s on very short notice (night before) and got Pirates, HM and Buzz. Crowded still but got on all of those very quickly. Additionally walked on...

    Worst WDW Attraction?

Sitting here coincidentally in my Alien Encounter t-shirt... voting for SGE as the worst ride. Went from a "must do" to a "I can't stand the smell of chili burps"

    Uber/Lyft at Disney?

So could an Uber driver with an annual pass go in and out and drop you at the TTC?

    Celebrities in the parks...

Saw Cal Ripken in the bathroom at Rainforest Cafe years ago at Downtown Disney (he was still playing). Our waiter says he was in the house and pointed towards his table. I started to walk by that way on a pretend "I have to go to the bathroom trip" to see if I could catch a glimpse and didn't...

    Stitch's Great Escape Goes Seasonal

I regularly (and discreetly) advised parents of kids I thought were too young about how scary it was. They either thanked me for the warning or took their crying kids out at the end.

    Stitch's Great Escape Goes Seasonal

Stitch not even open today... bring back Alien Encounter. I thought the 90's remodel of Tomorrowland was perfect with the retro-futuristic look. Still looks great.

    Replacement for Tomorrowland Speedway?

This is a great thread to read... I've been to WDW probably closing in on 20x (first in 1973 when I was 12). We would usually go 4-5 days a visit before kids and when our kids were little (now they are 18 and 19). Was on the space coast last week and went for a day (definitely not the best time...

How Much Security is Too Much?

So how many explosive detecting dogs and handlers would you need to cover all the cars heading into WDW? At an extra 1 minute per car you'd never get in there (even with 10 lanes open). How many attacks were there at WDW prior to 9/11? The same number as we've had since... it's a huge waste of...

How Much Security is Too Much?

Agreed... the fallacy of "more invasive searches" is that if someone is set on doing something they can do it at the queue for bag search. Lots of people lined up there and they haven't passed through security yet. That's why the whole exercise is just pointless.

How Much Security is Too Much?

I'm sorry but I think a plan like that is just more "security theater". An accomplice gets "registered" and on a subsequent reentry to the property can bring in any dangerous items they want in their trunk. I also don't think it's workable to have drug sniffing dogs and a teardown of cars...

Rate the value for the price charged for tickets.

Annual pass is great... we used to stagger our vacations by 51 weeks to get 2 years in... parking included plus discounts on food and souveniers.
